Thankful...

I am always thankful when we find a few minutes to be out in nature...last week was no exception.  So thankful to get a few new photographs.

I am thankful for a wild and crazy granddaughter.  Yes, she is making a face in the photo above.  Some tell me that one of these days she is sure going to love me for this.  I honestly don't think she will ever mind...her mom never did care.  She did not get embarrassed easily so am not expecting Lorelei to change.
***********
The Maintenance light came on and stayed on on our Rav4 yesterday.  Talk about being upset...I just did not know what to do....I could call Jeremy, or I could try to get it to a guy not too far from here and ask them to bring me home.  But I decided to sleep on it before I did anything.  And pray about it.  I got up this morn, and the thought came to me that maybe it was time for the oil to be changed.  I went and checked the mileage and was pretty sure that was it.

I first was going to reset the light and see if it came back on, then decided I would be apt to forget to have the oil changed if that was the problem.  So, I talked to Roger and believe it or not, he agreed to let me have it done.  I called, and got it in this afternoon.  I came home and did the reset of the light.  The Maintenance light comes on every 5,000 miles...when we change the oil we have to 'turn' it off.   There are specific steps to turning it off.

You turn the key to the on position, but not to the point you start the car.  And you do not touch your foot to the brake, and set the odometer tripmeter to Trip A....then turn the key off.

Next, while holding down the trip A meter button, turn the key to the on position, and continue holding the Trip A button down while it goes down to zero and wait till the maintenance light will goes off.

So I did that and took it for a drive to see if the maintenance light would come back on...it didn't.  I am so, so thankful for that.

These are just a few things I am thankful for...

I still say Lorelei is one of the sweetest looking little girls ever! I could just hug her. She remind me a little of my sweet granddaughter Michaela, who is eighteen now. I'm glad all your car needed was an oil change. I am totally lost when it comes to car maintenance. Sounds like you are doing great!

That little girl has a ton of personality and I doubt that will change. She's so COOL!! I have a Honda Element. We have that light too...a warning that it's time to change the oil. However, if we go over the recommended number, our car chugs until it's changed. We gave up Terry changing oil several years ago. I usually go to Walmart where they charge $25. I have the fuel injectors cleaned there twice a year as well...another $25. Luckily Terry is beginning to understand and accept his limitations.

"Great Minds Think Alike".... HAHA----I posted a pretty white flower today on Facebook...

We have our car maintenance done every 5000 miles also... When that 'reminder' pops up , we just leave it on until we get to the Toyota place to get that maintenance. They turn that 'reminder' off... I had no idea we could turn it off ourselves... BUT--hubby would say that IF we turned it off, we'd forget to get the maintenance done. SO---we'll just leave it ON until we get there!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

A cute and spunky grand-daughter! She must be so fun to have around! Thanks for the tips on getting rid of that pesky maintenance light. Mine has been on forever. They keep forgetting to trip it every time I get a check-up. x Karen

Applause to you for taking care of the oil change and getting things back on track. That's not my expertise either so I can appreciate being thankful for it. I'd also be thankful as you are for that beautiful granddaughter who likes to spend time with you. :-)

Glad everything is alright with your car. That is quite a procedure to get the maintenance light off!
Great photo of your granddaughter! Love that she is throwing a football with a flower in her hair.

My goodness, you are as good as a certified mechanic! I could never remember to do all this. Love the new picture of Lorelei, I have not seen her in some time. She has grown, and also gotten prettier.
