This and that....

I did manage to finish a couple pot holders...go here and look at the 3rd block down.  I had it left over when I made my choices for the latest quilt I am working on.  Well, I should say or not working on....it just sits on the design wall.  Anyway, I cut that block in half in both directions.  I then bordered two of those quarter sections and made the two potholders.  I am not sure what I will do with the other two...probably two more potholders.

We had to have our house and garage roofed...I signed the agreement in May.  I knew it would be a while, so was surprised when it was started last Friday and finished Monday!  I figured with all the damage from the storm on the 12th that that would put us farther down on the list.  No, here they came Friday and did the garage, and started on the house, then back on Monday and finished it.

In doing that they had to take down our Directv dish...and suggested we have them put it back up on a pole...so got that done on Tuesday.   It was really weird being without television Monday night.

Roger has been having some bad times the past few days...I took him to our nurse practitioner yesterday and she started him on a new med.  It has to build up in his system, but I think it has helped some already.  It has really been a hard few days for him.  He told her his head hurt all the time...I don't think it hurts all the time.  She is ordering another CT scan to check things out there...just to be on the safe side.

Lorelei will be starting to school in a couple weeks.  We had her last week, but have only had her one day this week.

Anyway, I am glad things are starting to settle down with Roger and glad the roof is done...now got to live through two or three appts next week...

  5. Constant headaches can be hell on earth. I had one once that lasted for three months. They ran every test that they could think of on me and then contributed it to stress. They even said, get use to it because as high stung as you are they will never go away. I started walking in the early morning when the air is fresh and the noise level is down and I started reading my Bible more . . . my headaches went away.
Love your potholders, they look too pretty to use. Maybe just hang them in a nice spot in the kitchen to be admired for a while . . . they are little works of art :)
I do hope that Roger finds the answer to his headaches, I will put him in my prayers.

  6. You should finish the churn dash quilt. It's awesome! Loved the pot holders too. Hope Roger is doing ok...it's so hard to see your hubby unwell. Mine goes through so much! Glad you are getting the roof fixed.

  7. Hope Roger gets to feeling better. I'm having a 'medical' week myself. It is wonderful that you get visits from your special girl. Mine is too grown up now. Love your potholders. :-)

I've done my fair share of roofing!!
I've been praying for Roger and you each morning when I walk. I will pray that these new meds work and that his CT scan comes back GOOD.

We haven't had television for a while now. We just watch Netflix.

  12. Gosh the potholders are lovely, Rose. You've done a beautiful job with them. Sorry to hear that Roger has been having some difficult days. Wishing him better. It must be lovely to have the roof all sorted out. I hate having builders in.

  14. You do such beautiful work. Hope everything comes out good with Roger's scan. I know it is hard being the caregiver too. Seems I've been that for so long.

  15. Very pretty Rose. We had to have a new roof several years ago when we had the biggest hailstorm we have ever had. Hopefully the new one will last a good long while. Sorry to hear that Roger hasn’t been feeling well. Hope the meds take effect fast and all the best for those appointments. Hard to believe the kids will be going back to school soon. The summer is going by fast, as per usual :)

  16. The potholders are some of the prettiest I've seen and they look so beautifully made. I think they would be big sellers in a shop.
I hope Roger gets some relief soon from the new meds and that the scan will show that all is well. Hard to believe that it's almost time for Lorelei to go to school. This summer is flying by!

  17. I love your pot holders---very creative.
I suffer for Roger---headaches are no fun specially when your system is already compromised. Having a stroke is hell on earth and I hope and wish and pray that he is feeling better----as of yesterday.
You take care of yourself too---ya hear!
Glad you got your roof done---yes it is weird not to have TV.
