Etc...

I thought I would do a little post over here...and use some of the photos I have not used.  I have an abundance of dragronfly shots.  Such as this one taken August 5...

Then there are other subjects...shots I really like but just haven't posted yet.

Are you feeling fall in the air where you live?  I see things such as the above, and I know it is on its way.

I sit on the porch almost every day at some point in time...most times late in the evening.  I noticed a tree down the other side of the street had one little spot of red just 3 or 4 days ago.  This afternoon when when I was sitting out there, I happened to notice this same tree and it has a lot of branches tipped in red!  Too numerous to count.

And then there is this...just look at it...this is a different tree, but the shot was taken this past Thursday!

Lorelei is back in school...she was so excited to start back and seems enthusiastic about it.  I hope she always enjoys going to school...so far all her teachers have just loved having her.

We have been talking of going to Willow Slough...Roger wants to go. It is a wildlife place...has fishing and hunting... I want to go, too, but it makes me a bit nervous to be over an hour from home.  It is almost a straight shot up the road, I cannot remember if it is four lanes all the way, but it is for most of the way.  He says he may sleep on the way there and back, and that is fine.  It is good that he wants to get out and do something.  I don't know what day it will be...his allergy shots are tomorrow...so that rules tomorrow out.

Have any of you watched any of the episodes of American Epic on PBS..it is about the birth of modern music, but different artists from all types of music come and do a recording on this old, old recording device.  Roger is even enjoying watching the same show a second time.  Not that I am not, he just usually doesn't want to watch things a second time.  I forget who all appears on it, Elton John, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and it has the blues....and more besides.  A bit of bluegrass...

And speaking of shows, if you ever get the chance watch Childsplay on PBS....or for that matter any place you get the chance.  I seen it was going to be on, and almost didn't record it, but I have a habit of recording anything music...never know when I will find something I like.  It is fiddles, fiddlers from all walks of life, and a fiddlemaker....and during some of the songs a kid does the Irish dancing....

  1. I have not heard of Childsplay, but will keep an eye out for it. I love Irish dancing and music. Picture 3 looks like a makeup brush! I hope you get to go to Willow Slough, it sounds great! Your dragonfly is gorgeous, and so detailed.

  2. Wow! The dragonfly shot is stunning! The flowers in the 2nd photo is so pretty! I can imagine the colourful trees at a distance. It is good for Roger and you to be out as long as he doesn't over exert himself. Have an enjoyable new week!

  3. Your pictures are great. I am happy to read that Lorelei is enjoying school. I hope you and Roger will enjoy an outing one day this week - we are noticing a few touches of fall here, also. My favorite time of the year.

  4. It's good that Lorelei is excited and happy to go back to school. Your pics are very nice. I was seeing touches of red and orange yesterday as I walked, and quite a few leaves on the ground.

  11. Those pictures are just beautiful! Yes, I kind of feel like fall is near. Poppy mentioned yesterday when we were sitting on the porch, that "it sounds like fall". I bet Lorelei is a joy to teach. She is so sweet! Both those shows on PBS sound good. I've not seen either one.

  12. Gorgeous photos Rose. I am seeing signs of Fall around here too, with leaves falling on the ground in the gardens. Nights are cooler and we have the windows open today. Seems earlier this year. I haven't seen American Epic or Childsplay but will make sure I watch them when Ic an. Sounds like Lorelei is loving school which is great. The wildlife area sounds fun.

  13. Beautiful photos, Rose. I especially like the dragon fly, so clear and detailed. Just as you've been noticing fall colours, I've seen our first signs of spring. Haven't felt any just yet but the weather will follow the signals from nature. When I first spotted an apple blossom I thought that can't be right, it can't be an apple tree, it's too cold. I'm so glad the trees know what they are doing and don't take any notice of me!

  14. Such excellent images and your words are beautiful.
Love the Dragon fly. Some trees are starting to turn here too. The native Vine Maple always start in August no matter the weather but it is always startling. Not ready yet.

  15. Beautiful shots, Rose. I remain deeply envious of how you can photograph dragon flies. They never sit still for long enough for me to catch them. I hear what you say about autumn, but I'm in denial. I hate to let go of summer until I really, really have to. Wishing you a lovely time at Willow Slough. It sounds fabulous.
