Something Roger shared
First a photo from the antique/junk shop over in Arthur, Illinois...a cookie jar. I did have a pig cookie jar that belonged to Roger's grandmother. I sent it home with Sarah....wanted it to be passed on.
***************
We were on our way to Sarah's....she was fixing chicken kabobs and invited us to have some with them. Plus we were picking up Lorelei for a couple nights.
We had not even got out of town till Roger told me when he was young, he wanted a gold tooth and a tattoo. I asked how old he was, thinking he would say 6 or 7....he said, oh in his teens. I found that hard to believe but I about died laughing...was laughing to hard I was crying and almost had to pull off the road.
I wish I had a recording of what he said and how he said it. He said he thought he would be cool...yeah, baby! How would you have liked that.
I really don't know if he was in his teens when he wanted them....I just find it so hard to believe. But thought it would be something fun for you to read!

Roger's memories gave you a good laugh! My ex told me that he put stuck some bright colored feathers on his sunglasses when he was about 12, trying to impress some little girls. I could not stop laughing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this. It made me smile.Wish I could have heard that actual conversation. It would have been priceless.
ReplyDeleteThis IS really funny! Kind of like the punch line from a stand-up comedian!
ReplyDeleteYes, now that we are older we can laugh at the silly and funny things we do when we were young.
ReplyDeleteFunny because it's out of character for Roger?
ReplyDeleteWe are an ink family. We love our ink. My grandson has some beautiful tatoos. He wants/wanted a gold tooth too. He even researched where he could get one and would have to go into Chicago to a dentist there. He even made an appointment that he ended up having to cancel due to a personal situation. Corey's ink and desire to have a gold tooth are right in character with the life he leads. To each his own, eh?
xx, Carol
Oh, I forgot. Cute cookie jar. Do people actually USE cookie jars anymore? I only have my Smokey The Bear jar out at Christmas.

the tattoo i could live with, gold tooth? nope.. don't you just love memeories that make us laugh.. you and i need to learn how to push the voice recorder on the phone when we are having fun...love the pig jar... i did not know cookies lasted long enough to need a jar... i had a santa cookie jar that was out for decoration but that was years ago
ReplyDeleteWonder what kind of tattoo he wanted!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to read! Kids are priceless with wishes. Now get ready. I HAVE a tattoo...got it at age 50. AND here's the funny part. Pull off the road...laughs coming. Since childhood, I always wanted a front tooth decay and have a diamond implanted!!
ReplyDeleteThat is funny. You were probably picturing him with that gold tooth and a tattoo. Men are funnier about things like that than women, I think. My brother always said he wanted a white German Shepherd Dog and a sawed off shotgun. Of course, I wanted to be an opera singer. How weird is that. I can't even carry a tune.
ReplyDeleteYou should take one of his pictures and photoshop it. Give him a gold tooth and some horrible tattoos. It can be his birthday present.
