Furnace fixed, and other stuff....

I feel like a bird that has been set free....the furnace is fixed and is running just fine.  I wasn't really worried about it and it is not cold so the space heaters were more than adequate.  Still it feels so good for it to be done.  I know part of it is cause I have to stay where I can hear the door or be here to get the door cause Roger would never hear him if he knocked...and cannot always answer the phone if I have them all first.  Anyway, it is done.  That is one thing I am very thankful for.

I actually saw a Red-winged blackbird the other day but this is my first pic of one this year.  To me they are as much a sign of spring as the robin is.  Maybe even more so.  When Sarah lived in Indy, I remember seeing robins when we were there at Christmas.  Anyway, I was thankful to see it....

Talking about birds leads to a question...did anyone else notice the big birds flying above/around the Diamond Princess cruise ship that was quarantined off Japan because of the coronavirus?  Did anyone know what they were.  I could never catch a good glimpse of them but I so wanted to know.  Did any other birder notice and wonder?

My heart has been so full today...thinking about everything...about first one thing and then another.  Thinking about home...about Tennessee...thinking about Roger and his friends...realized today that the guy that worked on our furnace reminded me of someone Roger would have liked before his stroke.  Not that he don't like him now...he likes everyone. It is hard to explains...anyway, I guess that will always be my comfort zone.  Someone that reminds me of him/his friends.

Below is an instrumental with photos from around home.  The little white house that is the 'cover' photo is one we passed every day we went to school.  Well, for me almost every day...I did get a few rides.

I hope everyone has a nice week....

  2. It's a relief to have your furnace fixed. Ours is over 40 years old and every winter now I wonder if it will die.
Nice video. I am very fond of the call of loons.

  3. I love the video, Rose. The sounds of the birds, along with the background music is so nice. The old abandoned houses and barns make me a little sad, though. Getting the heater back up and going is a good thing, for sure!

I hope you and Roger are both doing well.

  9. You are full of stress and worry. I understand that and can relate to it well. I'm pretty sure Robins are here all year round. I think they just go deeper to the woods. With our mild winter I have seen them in the front tree. We rarely see RWBB at our feeders but we are just a couple blocks from the river and the county park where they can be seen often. Not sure if they stick around in the winter too. Why do you think those birds were flying around the cruise ship.
    xx, Carol

  10. Lovely video, and especially enjoyed your soundtrack with the birdsong. Your countryside has such rugged beauty, with such a calm peacefulness about it. What a beautiful place to live :)
Very happy to hear your furnace is now fixed and you can take that off the list. Mxx

  12. How cool.
I haven't seen red winged black birds yet, but did a pair of brown headed cow birds the other day. The first I have seen since early fall/late summer.
Our Robins leave. I know people in Greenwood who have them all winter - that must be where they go to be south. Have never seen one here during the winter ever. I get excited when I see the first one.
My squirrels are getting 'frisky' if you know what I mean. Babies will be in the future!!!
Glad you got your furnace fixed.

  14. I'm glad you got your furnace fixed. That's a pretty photo of the red-wing. I love to see them and hopefully it won't be too long before they return. I did see our first robin the other day. Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it very much. I missed the video of the birds and the cruise ship too.

  15. well a "furnace" is completely unknown thing here in NZ. Yes people are starting to install heat pump which also become air con in the summer - but I know that's not really a furnace. But suffice to say, thank goodness yours is fixed...
I wish my landlord would install a heat pump, it's a requirement coming up but not until July 2021...and where I was told it would be installed, means will still have to use portable heating in the bedrooms as I don't think heat migrates around corners and walls all that well...

  16. Beautiful video. I know it would make me homesick at the very least. Glad the furnace is fixed---things seem to go wrong when we least expect it. You guys have a good week too.
