This and that....

This is early...I did not even realize it had buds...it was so limp yesterday morn from the cold, I did not know if it was going to survive.  I looked out this morn and seen this color, and could not figure it out till I went out there and saw it was actual buds.

Edited to add:  Granny Marigold ask what plant this is.  I think it is my Fritillaria.  I had never heard of them till I seen the bulbs last fall, so I bought a package and planted  it/them?  I cannot remember if it was a single bulb or if it had two or three.

This iron has been in use today....

I made this binding yesterday but did not fold in half and press till today.

Sorry about the shadows...but as I press it I fan-fold my binding.  Then when I sew it to the quilt, I have it down by my right side, usually in a drawer, and it unfolds without getting all tangled up and twisted.

I tried making a mask a new way...well the making of them is not the problem.  It is the comfort.  And you should have seen Roger trying to get it on.  Of course, he adds to the comedy by.  He will put it on, )or his CPap mask at night), and say, "Hey Baby,, how about a date?"  or "Aren't I a handsome devil?"  Thank God for his humor.  FYI, he would never say either of those things and mean them...this is totally him being funny.

I keep thinking we will go for a drive...but then I never follow through.  But I really could use some time out with nature.  I wish there were some good walking paths around here, but there isn't at all.  I hope everyone has a good weekend....

  1. The buds on that plant are lovely but what kind of a plant is it? I'll come back later and see if you've left me an answer.

  2. Are those tulips? I love the color. When I make binding I roll it and then put the roll in a small box. I like your method of fan folding the binding. I don't have a drawer to hold it so I use the box.

    You and Roger take care!

  5. It is good that your husband has a sense of humor. That does look like a pretty flower, what we can see so far. I've been taking walks around the neighborhood. It is so weird that I did the same thing before, but now I miss the occasional walk I take elsewhere for variety. I too think at some point we will go to a park or take some other path for a change of pace.

  7. A very nice early morning gift to see the buds. Your binding is a very pretty color. How wonderful that Roger has such a good sense of humor. We are in the same boat regarding walking paths. I am looking forward to when we can get back to our usual places.

  8. We went out yesterday for a drive. It was a beautiful sunny day, but too windy and cold to walk the trails.

We picked up a take out lunch and ate it in the car ..... table for two, window view. LOL Then it was up to the mountain where there is a teeny-tiny bakery. Our bread this week will be fresh off the farm.

Today it was re-jigger the face masks I threw together with quilting cotton and safety pins. Since we will be wearing them for quite awhile, I sewed them together. Not beautiful by any means, but functional. I will never be anyone's tailor.

  9. Hello,

It is nice to see the buds about to open. I think we all need some humor these days. A walk or drive near nature is a peaceful time.
Take care! Enjoy your day, wishing you a great weekend!

  10. Hope to see the buds turning into flowers. A little humor will drive away the lockdown boredom.

  11. My tulips looked all droopy like that yesterday morning too. Is that some sort of lilly? The leaves look like it.
I ran out an picked up an order of bird/squirrel food yesterday. I called ahead, they had it ready, and loaded it in my car. Never even got out. But at least I saw a little different view on the drive there! LOL
    Roger is a hoot!
    Have a great weekend.

  12. the bud looks like it will be beautiful, keep watching it so we can see what it looks like.. bob will not even think about trying on a mask, rolled his eyes when I suggested it. he doesn't go out so no need and he would no wear one anyway. the thing is THEY may demand we do, already have in some counties in FL... new normal on the way... the binding is so pretty and what a clever way to use it out of a drawer.

  13. Probably the biggest thing I miss in lock-down is not being able to go walking in nature. Only streets to walk around here and I am not keen on that.
Love hubby's sense of humour :)

  14. Starting tomorrow we now have to wear those face masks too. Ken made us a couple today. So funny! We look like we're ready to rob a bank. I know I'm going to crack up when we go in a store with them on.
The plant is a pretty color.

  15. I love the color of the buds. Please post a picture when they open! It is always a good thing when you live with someone that has a sense of humor. Honestly, it gets me through the day sometimes.

  16. I'm noticing more the "little and simple things" that come into my view...not that I've been out since my big 2 hour trip last Tuesday; when I noted that in one part of my suburb which is usually over run with cars dodging around back street to avoid too many traffic lights - there wasn't a car in sight! And my bustling bus station at times had more buses in it than us folk - not common...
