Critters....

The other day I came home and Chuck was actually out in front of our garage, but started to run across the street.

I always wonder if there is only one....and I think there is or we surely would have seen babies.  It has lived under a little building of a neighbor for over 5 years now...since well before Roger's stroke.  I think it is looking old.

This was the first critter photo I took yesterday.  It was also the only deer we saw.  It was in a field right before we get to the swamp area.....

One of the many, many dragonflies at the swamp.    I have other pics over on Time Stand Still.

Do you want one more way to waste time?  I have recently been on drives in England, in Canada, in New Zealand, in Russia.  All via the internet and the little man on Google maps.  Do you know about him?  (Please click the images to see better)

I would say most of you know about him, but just in case you don't, look up any place, in this case I googled Rockville, Indiana.  I just clicked on the image of the google map.  A regular map came up, and on this one where you see the little image of a map in the lower left, I clicked for this satellight image.

On the lower right side, see that little yellow man?  Click on him. Streets and roads become highlighted.

You can click anywhere a road is highlighted and you are immediately taken there.  For instance, I clicked on the road that goes west right outside the town, there where it says 36...and this is the view I seen:

You can turn all the way around to see what is on either side.  Sometimes my computer/internet takes a few seconds for the image to become clear.  Then click to go forward or turn around the other way.  It is a fun way to spend some time.  Also useful when you are going some place new.  I will google the address and then click the map and click the little man...and then click where the place is marked.

I have recently told two people about this that did not know you do this.  It is really fun to go look around.

  1. If you do that for my sister's old street, you can see my brother-in-law building new steps in his front yard. LOL

  2. I love your photos. I enjoy looking up former homes I've lived in and "driving" on the street via google!

  3. I use google maps a lot when I need to go to a new place. I remember when we first got the computer, my husband took a virtual trip all along the west coast of North America. He saw so much of interest.

  4. Not only I did not know, but I don't know anything about Google Maps. I think I will try it, it would be fun to see the street I grew up on so many years ago. COOL!

  5. I'm not good at navigating this, but did manage to move the yellow man. Got as far as the railroad tracks at the end of the street. I guess I could amuse myself for hours with this!

  6. I use Google Maps all the time, to see where I am going, but I never thought of 'traveling around' through it. Little Yellow Man would make a great guide - and no doubt waste me a lot of time! :))

  7. Lovely critters photos. I frequently use Google maps and the little yellow man has helped me searched for places that I want to check out. I like to use the street view to see the actual place. Have a good week.

  9. Love the critter pics. I think the 'Chuck' that lived here must have died. No signs yet this year.
Glen used to do that and I have had no idea how he did it. Thanks - that is huge for me - now I can see where some of the nieces and nephews have moved to.

  10. I am so jealous that I don't get to see Chuck! He is absolutely adorable and precious! And traveling by Google Maps is was part of my shoulder problem because add that to all the other stuff I do and I was spending hours an hours online. I've traveled to London and seeing the big Big Ben and ab travel to the Eiffel Tower and I've traveled to Germany and Scotland. And I never go anywhere that's a new address that I don't use that to see what's going to come up next like where the turn is and say there's a Wendy's where I'm going to turn right that kind of thing. I do love that little yellow man

  13. I'm going to have to ask "what is that Chuck animal" - never seen such an animal at least here in New Zealand

Just looked at my own address and although it doesn't seem possible to see actual units down the ROW of way, the new concrete drive is very much there! Still rather lite grey looking whereas rest of the surrounding drives, well used deep greys...

  17. I love Street View. I've been to so many streets online, including old childhood (and adult) haunts. Some of them have completely changed, others are exactly how they were 70 years ago.

  18. Great photos Rose and I enjoy traveling. Some time ago I went back to the house I lived in from 5 to 15. I was surprised how much I remembered as I 'walked' up to town next to the big park I used to play in for many years.

  19. I like doing the google map thing. Put in any address and get a map and have fun. I look up old houses I lived and i googled the house from when I was a kid and it just doesn't look like I remember it
