From the yard....

First, this is what the Asiatic lilies I posted in my last post looks like now.  In real life they are more faded looking than this.  But look back at them and compare colors.  Almost like having two different plants.  But there is a fresh stem that is the darker color.

Another day lily...I have two bunches of these...they have only been blooming a couple days so should last a while.  The others are slowing down.  I really would like so get some with more vivid colors.

I am temped to call this pink hibiscus Old Faithful.  It started blooming a few days ago.  I think it had 7 blooms on it today.   Last year one day we counted 21 blooms at one time.  Not buds, but blooms.

This is the one I got at the greenhouse about a month ago.  This is its second bloom.  Yesterday it had its first.  If you think the color is odd, you are seeing it right.  It is just the oddest color red.  It was not the red I was going for, but I love it.
*************
I did a couple loads of laundry today...and did some regular jobs around that we all have.  Oh, and Lorelei texted....she wants to come next week for a couple nights.  So, will have that to look forward, too.

OH, the other thing.  Got a call from SSI...late this evening.  Social Security I assume.  Caller ID just said SSI.  Who actually believes it was SSI?  Calling on a Sunday.   I did not answer, but not for lack of trying.  Our phone actually speaks and says whoever is calling...I thought it was saying Steve...one of Roger's buddies.  I tried to get to it in time to answer but could not.  So was going to call him back, and when I went to caller ID, I saw it said SSI.  (You should hear it try to pronounce some names!)

I bet they would have had some big line of BS...sorry, I could not think of another word...they would have wanted my Social Security Number, and banking account, etc.

I have started adding the sashing and cornerstones to the quilt blocks.  It may take me the rest of the summer to get it done, but I hope not.

I hope we all have a good week ahead....

  3. Gorgeous lilies and hibiscus and they are big! Have to be very careful and alert with these scammers. There is so much work putting together your quilt but it is beautiful.

  4. Your flowers are beautiful! Love the color of both.

I've been dealing with the real SSA for the past few months, believe me they will NEVER call you.

Can't wait to see the rest of your crumb quilt.

  5. I so enjoyed your flower pictures. I also love your quilt. That is scary about someone pretending to be SSI.

  6. I like the flowers all together, the lilies as well as the hibiscus. I have only one hibiscus left in the garden, planted in a bucket. The next bloom, I will show.

  7. Hello,

Your flowers are all beautiful! SSA would never call anyone, they would send a letter after you spoke to someone in their office, maybe.
There are too many scams, people wanting your personal information.
I do not answer my phone unless it is someone I recognize, anyone else can leave a message. Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!

  8. Those robo calls infuriate me. I pick up the receiver and stay silent. Most of the time the caller disconnects. There are so many scams it is scary.

Time with you little sweetie is definitely something to look forward to.

  9. The flowers are all beautiful. I like the quilt squires - pretty.
Yea, it is amazing how many calls you get from places trying to scam - even on the no-call list. Obviously that means nothing.
    Have a good one.

  10. We have been getting a ton of robocalls and I had pretty much stopped them because I signed up with Spectrum for Nomorobo calls but it seems to have quit working or they found a work about because we're getting in one hour the other day I got five. It's just aggravating for it to ring and ring and ring. That red color that you got we had one that was that color red but the drought killed it. I love her discus and yours are beautiful. I wanted to choke Bob the other day he got out there with the saw when I wasn't looking and there were more than 30 orange hibiscus on the big bush in the corner and he cut off every limb that had a flower on it and I went out and there was the big pile of Limbs with all the flowers. He said well it needed to be cut back and I said it didn't need to be cut back when it was in full bloom there were a lot of words

  11. From you last post...imagine a cat watching a movie! So cute.
Love to see the blooms in your garden and to note which I have too. My day lilies are just starting to bloom. Isn't this a bonus for this particular year with all the shenanigans.

  12. I signed up to nomorobo yrs ago, but always one or two slip through. I get one or two per day that ring once. On my house phone. I can go in and block numbers too.

  13. So many beautiful reds and pinks in your garden.

  14. Enjoyed your colourful flowers.
I have no land-line phone now, just my mobile, but that still gets scam calls. Most times I hang up on them (and then block the number) but sometimes I feel naughty and "play" the Little Old Lady Who Cannot Hear Very Well and keep interrupting them and asking who they are in a shaky voice.

  17. Beautiful flowers! I love them all. Hibiscus is one I've never tried to grow. I'm not sure why not. They are lovely.

  18. Love your lilies, daylilies and hibiscus...

Those stupid robo-calls are so disgusting. We've done everything possible to stop those calls --but nothing works... AND--lately, we have some even leaving voicemails.... One that constantly calls and leaves a message is a computer asking us if we want some 'reports'.... Have no idea what that is about --but will NOT answer to find out.... GADS!!!

    Stay SAFE...
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  20. Absolutely gorgeous Rose, lilies, hibiscus and your quilting. My sister-in-law sent me Asiatic Lilies for my birthday. They came while still in bud and I am beginning to see them open now I have been getting a lot of scam calls, several to do with the Social Security. I never answer them but they leave voice mails threatening me with dire consequences with legal action if I don’t call them. All that aside, enjoy your time with your sweet Lorelei and thank you for sharing those lovely photos.

  25. Gorgeous flowers!!!!

We only have 2 old flip cell phones, for emergencies when driving. No one calls us, on them.

We use our land line phone answering machine. And have ring set to the shortest number. Do not answer our phone, unless we recognize the number. Or the person, leaves a message. And it is a person we know!!!

There are soooooo many baddddddd calls! Always trying to scam people, especially older people.

One has to protect one's self. And the answering machine, is our protection.
