Just had to share

Last night my daughter sent me this pic...over the weekend she and Sarah and Jeremy had got her shelving unit up and her bigger TV up and running.  She ordered a new sofa about the time she moved and it still has not arrived, so she has been using a small TV in her bedroom.  (I just now noticed the photo has my name on it...I did not take this photo, but am too lazy to redo it.)

Well, Delta was so interested/enthused with getting the big TV up and running.  From beginning to end.  When it was done, daughter put on the movie Secretariet for Delta....Delta watched the whole movie.  I think I have told you that she loves horses!  We would love to see what she would do if she met a real one.

A just for fun photo...climbing the mountain of hostas...by the way, those flip-flops are a size 7/8...womens.  Both the above and below photo were taken about a week ago, give or take a day or two.

These hostas are in full bloom now, while some of my others are just getting buds.  It is nice that they are spread out and have different times to bloom.

These are blooming now...photo taken about an hour ago.

Would you believe I spent all last week either on the phone or waiting for a phone call, or trying to complete a phone call and things are still not settled.  So started again Monday morn, and now this dr. is on vacation, so nothing to be done but wait.  He just wants Roger to try a nebulizer for his chronic cough.  I am willing to try anything.  He had me get an air purifier....I got two.  I actually think they may have helped a little bit.  Seems like within just minutes of getting outside the house, he has a coughing spell.  He still coughs inside, but I don't think as often as he did.

That is just a bit of what has been going on.

One of my sisters passed away last week..,the visitation was yesterday.  We did not go.  I am not sure how Roger would have handled the trip.  Google said it was basically a two hour drive...I think  an hour and 59 minutes....add to that a stop or two for a bathroom break,  and we are getting close to 2 and a half hours one way...plus there was a road closed, but I think it would not have added much to the length of drive.

I so want to go for a drive, an in the heat I hesitate to go.  We get on back roads where there is no phone reception, and I do not think Roger could handle the heat if the car broke down...so I have been staying home in the worst of this heat.  It is supposed to stay over 90 all week...every day when I look at the weather it will be 92, 93...but then say it feels like 105!

I hope you are having a good week.  I am trying to relax and just not worry.  And take care of things when I can.

  1. Delta watching the movie just makes me smile! Your hostas are so pretty and big and I love the bloom. Your lilies are beautiful - are they fragrant? It is so frustrating about getting prescriptions these days. I'm sorry for all the aggravation. My sympathy in the passing of your sister. I believe you did the right thing by not making that long trip in this heat.

  2. Hello,

The TV shelving unit or bookcases look beautiful. I like the dog too.
Your hosta leaves are huge. Pretty blooms. I hope Roger feels better soon. I am sorry for the loss of your sister, sending prayers for you and your family.

  3. There must be something in Delta's DNA carried forward to her from ancestors that had to do with horses. I am sorry about your sister. I am sure she would understand why you did not make that long trip.

  4. That is funny with watching the movie. You know that was Glen's favorite movie ever and bless his heart - he cried every time he watched it!
WOW on the Hosta. Those are huge.
I don't blame you about staying home in this heat - you sure wouldn't want to break down.
You know we have always said there had to be something in your house provoking the coughing. Glad that maybe the air filters are working some.
I stayed home yesterday as well, from the funeral. Just can't take a chance getting sick with being alone.
Yes, I do go out some places - but I sure keep my distance, order for pick-up and clean, clean, clean. Family always wants to hug and get close - so right now I am avoiding family situations sadly.
    Take care.

  7. I chuckled at your climbing the hosta, but then was saddened to hear about your sister. I think you made the right decision staying home like you did. I love the lily, it is a gorgeous colour. Take care, Mxx

  8. Love Delta watching the horse movie and the shelving is beautiful.. that tv make my 47 look small.. you did the right think in MY humble opinion of not taking the chance on the trip with Roger... the heat does make a difference, it is as bad to get caught out in heat as in freezing weather. both are deadly. we are having the same temps and i told my friend today that i will not be walking in the park until November. i can't take the heat even early am. i really reallly realllly like the flip flop mountain climbing photo..

  9. I'm sorry to hear about your sister. It is hard to get out much in this heat. We have also been in the 90s for over a month now. Your hostas are beautiful! How amazing that Delta watched the whole movie. Maybe they can find a place to take her where she could meet a real horse. It would be fun to see her reaction. I wonder if she thinks they are big dogs?

  10. I think you have the same huge Hosta that I have back in the Wild Garden. It took up way too much room in the front yard.
Sorry to hear that your sister passed away.

  11. I am so very sorry about your sister. And that you cannot go to the funeral home. Blessings to you, my friend. Your flowers are simply gorgeous. And what a cute story about Delta! We are having the same heat wave here.

  15. I love that shelving unit. We ordered furniture when we got here and it's still not here. Corey and Alyssa bought a cheap sectional to use until it comes in. It will be used in the "quiet" room when the ordered one arrives. the rocker/recliner they ordered for me was supposed to be here in two weeks...that was almost 2 months ago. Almost all furniture we need or needed has been very hard to find. Looking in the furniture store made me realize how ratty our furniture looks. Corey wants to buy us a new bedroom let but I said why? It's been around a long time and who is going to see it but us? He says I am cheap. I say thrifty. And so it goes. Your hosta are wonderful. I wanted to bring some of my hosta (Terry hates them) and ALL of my day lily but we didn't bring not one. Just as well, I am not going to work in the garden here. It's very hot but very low humidity so you never really feel how high the temp is.
    xx, Carol

  17. I hope you can find some way of easing the coughing. Constant coughing is no fun at all.

I think you were right to avoid a long drive in such heat. A breakdown would be hard to cope with.

    The hostas are wonderful.

  18. I am sorry to hear about your sister. It had to be hard and I know you will miss her.
We too are not going out in this heat. I get up at sunrise and go out in the garden for about an hour. It is too hot and people don't realize it is dangerous. Don't take any risks.
