Wisteria

One from our old home, a few years ago.  I really do miss this wisteria, even though it is different to the one from my youth.  The one we had at home had the 'pod' of blooms, but it was much looser and longer.  I cannot remember if they smelled good or not.  This one did not have a scent that I ever noticed.  But it would be just full of blossoms.

A robin built a nest in it and raised babies once, as well as a house wren.  And there we had two cats.  But they survived.

Are there things you miss from your youth or from past homes?  I always feel like I look back too much...but it is usually to the good things, though there are days I dwell on the negative.

  1. I have so many memories from my childhood home. All the flowers, and the big garden. The apple trees. We had a covered porch with a nice swing on it, and at the end of the porch was a wisteria. I miss sitting on that swing on a summer's day.

  2. Our wisteria had so many blooms on it this year. It has grown huge the past couple of years.
I don't have anything that I really miss. I do think about the great places I got to play and I'm glad I grew up when I did!!!

  3. This is a lovely closeup of wisteria. I have always loved wisteria. From my childhood I miss morning glories.

  4. The Wisteria that I remember also had "looser" bunches of flowers.
I'd say the Robin and Wren were pretty lucky not to have had one of the cats find their nests.

  5. Sometimes I miss plants that I used to grow in my garden, but are just not practical nowadays. The wisteria reminds me of an old friend I haven't seen for years - she had a huge vine climbing over her front verandah and it was a real sight when in bloom.

  6. Very pretty! Too cold up here to grow Wisteria. You are lucky! I miss rhubarb plants and garden peas:)

  7. I love the wisteria blooms, they are so pretty.
We used to have a huge Mimosa tree, I was sad it died.
Take care, have a great week!

  8. This is so pretty. We never had anything like that growing in our yard. My dad was an excellent gardener though. He planted a big garden every year. He didn't eat much himself but gave most of it away to family and neighbors. He also planted lilac and snowball bushes along the one property line. They were huge and gorgeous by the time I finally moved out.

  9. The wisteria is gorgeous. I haven’t seen one here. I have fond memories of the rose bushes in my grandmother’s garden! Great memories!

  10. What a bunch. Nothing can be better than too hear that a robin built a nest in it and raised babies (and a wren)

  11. This is beautiful rose. I find myself thinking about past years more and more these days. I remember the man next door to my grandmother's house. He had a small aviary in his garden which fascinated me as a child, and probably would now. They were brightly colored birds. This only just popped into my head as I read your post :)
