He went that way!

Every time I see this, I think it is pointing out which direction to go.

I always wonder how people every made it to their destination before GPS and google maps.  They have made life so much easier.

And do you ever think of the pioneers and early explorers?  They sure had the nerve to take off for sometimes years at a time.  Or the wagon trains going west.  Just think of no good bed at the end of the day.  Not even a comfortable chair to sit it when the day is done.
***********
Sarah came here and worked from here yesterday and stayed with Roger till Rachel and I could take off for a few hours...we went back close to home to some antique shops.  I love to just look around but not in the mood to buy anything for me.  There was stuff I like, but I know I do not need anything else.

And the most pleasant part of the day was going to eat at the local diner...just to sit down and have a breakfast that I had not cooked and to not have to clean up after cooking!

What is something that highlights your day?

  1. And when the pioneers traveled, there not many roads, and none of them had names! What a great day you had!

  2. I would not have been a good pioneer wife. I like my comforts too much.
Sounds like you had a nice break from the ordinary today.

  3. Love that picture.
Google maps is a life saver and I use it often. Before that I would print out a map from mapquest and that got me lost on more than one occasion.

  4. Such a beautiful picture with the sweet bird...
and you had a good day.
Yesterday I finished sewing a Christmas present - a cute little bag with lots of inside pockets - I was in the forest, the autumn leaves are still on the trees and I went to the farmer with my husband, we bought apples and some vegetables and eggs...
Many greetings to you and happy Sunday.

  5. I did better with paper maps, I have not mastered the gps thing because I have not used it. I tried to and got lost and had to call the place I was going to. I can't think of anything that highlights my day and am so glad you had a really good highlight with Rachel..

  8. Glen and I used to talk about that when we would be driving in the country. Especially through the woods - how they had to stop and clear everything out and we just get to drive.
Glad you got out for a bit of YOU time - sounds like fun.

  9. visiting you from over at Ann's. I do think about the pioneers....can you imagine day after day of being on the wagon, only to get so close and realize that due to a steep valley or rushing river that you can't cross...and having to backtrack for a few days? Oh my!! It is always nice to be able to sit down to a meal that you don't have to cook.

It is so nice to have a meal cooked for you. I'm lucky in that Ken likes to cook too. :)

  11. We just got back from lunch after church. I always like that too. Just sit down and eat and no cooking or clean up!!
I guess I like my creature comforts too much to be a pioneer.

  12. Nice that you enjoyed not cooking or cleaning for that meal. I don't use gps or any apps. I'm still paper directions.

  13. I think about all that too and wonder how we used to find our way with just a road map. :) My husband had a nervous breakdown while in Vietnam and was sent to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC. I put my two very young daughters in the car and drove to see him, from down here in NC...with just a road map. I would be scared to death to try that now. I made the trip just find and found the hospital. The highlight of my day would be to go eat somewhere...and not have to cook!!
