From the archives...

Calves are just so adorable!  Been ages and ages since I have actually got up close and personal with one.  But I would sure like the opportunity.

************

It rained last night...and really hard part of the time.  Then today Roger had an appt to have blood drawn to do kidnery function test.  I was hoping the rain would be over, and it was except was misting when we had to leave but by the time we got headed home, not even that.

Let me tell you about this visit...not so much the visit but the parking lot part of it.  So we have a handicapped parking permit, but the handicapped parking spots do not have the extra wide space between spots.  So no getting the wheel chair through and opening the car door wide open.  There is one spot if you happened to get it it would work.  But I have never been so luck. Which is okay....I can walk.  I never use it just for myself.

So I get a bit far away from the doors and park where there is an open space beside me and since there are parking spaces close to the doors, I just pray no one parks next to me.  There is no way that Roger can walk from the back of the car up to the door.

But that is beside the point.  The place I parked, the pavement comes right up to where the spaces begin, and then it is different. The spaces are pavers.  So, I get the wheel chair out and get it up to Roger, he gets in, I back him away till I can shut and lock the doors...turn him around and it is a slight incline...and am pushing him and hit the lip where the pavers meet the asphalt...it really jarred him.  I did not dream the edge had that much of a difference that the wheel would not go over it easily.  Even if they are the smaller front wheels.

Not only that, I stepped on the back to lift the front up and proceeded forward and it does take effort to push...and I proceeded to trip over that lip myself!  If I had not been pushing him and have hold of the wheel chair, I would have fell so hard.  I don't even like to think about it.  I did get tickled...and went on.

Of course there was a truck waiting for us to get by...so no way did I escape being seen....

For your viewing pleasure I leave you with this one.  It is funny, I had the past 2 or 3 videos all pop up within a couple days and now have not seen one worth posting for several days.

  1. I am just so glad you didn't fall flat on your face in that parking lot. It doesn't bear thinking about.
Cute little video. Makes me remember when our Black Lab found some coffee beans and ate them. We came home to a very hyper dog!!!

  2. Wow, you had several close calls there!! But you must have really quick reflexes. This dog is so fascinated with the kitchen! He even opened the toaster oven and pulled the shelf out!!

  4. What good are handicapped spots if they don't give you enough room. Sorry to hear about your experience. Glad you didn't actually fall though. Why is it that there always seems to be someone watching when you do things like that. That is one smart dog in the video.

  5. Hello,
The calf is adorable. I am glad you did not fall. Some parking places are so small it is hard to open your car door to get out. I can not imagine have to handle a wheelchair on the parking lot. Take care, have a great day!

  6. I am so glad you did not fall or dump Roger out on the pavement, almost every time I go to our doctors office, I see people pull up to the door, and get the person out and into the wheel chair, lock the wheels and go park the car and come back and go in, is there a way to do that at this office/
I have got to show this video to Bob, now I am wondering what Beau does when we are gone. dogs are just so smart. thanks for the early am laugh

  7. Oh my word... be careful. I can't imagine handicap stalls that won't accommodate getting people in and out of their cars. So glad you didn't dump Roger out onto the concrete and take a fall yourself.
Seeing that dog video kind of scares me. Accidents about to happen !!!
He really is a very smart dog though.

  8. I always notice the wheelchair parking spaces now since someone explained about needing a larger space. Rarely are they an adequate size. Terrible. I am glad neither of you were hurt.

  9. You would think at the doctors office they would have better spaces and more of them and a smooth path to the door.
Glad you made it without a fall.
That dog is so funny and smart to move the chair over like that!!

  10. Thank goodness you didn't fall ... parking spaces are so often just too small.

  11. How adorable! They have the cutest faces. We woke up to heavy rain this morning. It's still raining here. Stopped for a while and now is pouring hard. That parking lot sounds like a trial. So glad you didn't take a bad fall and that Roger was okay too. That beagle was hilarious, thanks for sharing that.

  12. Many handicap parking spots are just too narrow to get a wheelchair near the car door...those van spots would work well. I am so glad you did not fall.
