A blue heron

I actually got this shot the other night on the way to the strip pits...I think it is my best so far of a blue heron. Actually I very seldom get a chance to even try to capture them. Most of the time, they are very shy, but every now and then one isn't and I wonder what the reason is. Do some actually become accustomed to cars and some not. Usually the ones out at the strip pit take flight if they are anywhere near the road.

I have things I want to do today...going to actually call a couple more green houses. I am kind of wanting to go this one the Amish have, but won't go unless the other two I thought of don't have any tomatoes.

But first I have things to do here so I best get busy.

  2. Wonderful picture of the heron! The ones that I see always look like they just rolled in the water or something. I think some must get used to the activity in a certain place. At the wetlands, I can almost always get their picture, but if they stop at my house, I never get one.

  4. I don't know why some blue herons are shy and others aren't, but I'm glad the one you encountered wasn't shy. You got a great picture.

  7. That is a nice shot indeed! It's really hard to catch glimpses of the heron without being a million miles away, they truly are shy creatures.

  9. Excellent - I saw a heron on the local canal recently and got some pictures - I've scheduled them to appear on HDP on 7th May though I might change the date yet.
