She was there....

Though television coverage did not show much, my daugher snagged this from somewhere.  That is Lorelei, it almost looks like she is stepping on to the thumb of the guy waving.

She said when they were done her hands hurt from the cold, and she was soaked...her 'uniform' her socks, her gloves.

And below is a video I found...they were right after the train with Jimmy Fallon...if I did it correctly, it will begin with the Avon Marching band starting to march by.  Edited to add...if you expand the view to fit your screen, this really shows up good.  and if you hit the pause button at 1:27 exactly she is about exactly in the center of the screen.

And just for one more, here is a photo of her and her dad...

I couldn't believe this...

I thought the one I posted on the 18th on my other blog would be the last rose but this one is from Monday!  Of this week. Since the snow.

Happy Thanksgiving!  Our granddaughter is in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade...she is in the Avon Marching Band.

Why I complain....

This is direct from the washer...it was a load of 4 Men's XXL shirts bought at a thrift store for the fabric, not to wear.

This is just one of the 4 shirts...the others were light colored and you could not tell if they had dry spots or not.

Might I add, the deep fill is always on...and I always do the second rinse.  I really think probably almost all the new washers do this...I know my new one at our home did, my other daughter's does this.  I thought at first that this one did not except on bulky items...but i was wrong.  All three of these washers are different brands.

My thought is what if you had real sickness where you were having to do a lot of laundry...what in the world would a person do.  With doing a second rinse, this usally takes an hour and eleven minutes, but if it is sheets or towels, it takes a bit longer because of the settings I use.

I will say besides all the extra time they require, by the time you have to redo things, plus always using the extra rinse, they waste energy at the least.  And maybe water, too but that might be a stretch because they try to use so little.

Just a little video...if  you feel up to it, pop over to youtube and give this one a like.  It is not exactly funny, but it made Roger chuckle.

One of the things I miss....

I miss seeing swans...I really need to get brave and venture out to find spots here to see things.  One of these days I just might...or might just take off and head to familiar spots.

I have not done much today...I did cut out an apron...not the feminine kind, but the kind for grilling, etc.  They are simple...and should be a quick make...I did get the ties made...but did not get the pockets cut out.  Pockets are a must for me.

It is so dark and dreary here.  I am really needing sunshine for more than an hour or two.  Did not see it at all today...don't think I saw it yesterday.  I have forgot  what it looks like!

I am almost to the point of counting the days till the days start getting longer!  And winter has only begun.

Winter is here....

The first real snowfall of the year...a week or two ago, daughter said they did have sleet downtown Indianapolis.   But this is snow.  I know at one point it was down t0 28° F...it may have been lower but I did not notice it if it was.  This was early morning...I have not paid attention to it otherwise.

This really is not a lot but I am sure the roads are slick.  I did go to Mcds but it was not like this.  I may be staying home in the morning which will not upset me in the least.

I have did some of my chores today...but won't go into that.  Just glad to have done what I got done.  There is always something waiting for me.  I am leaving the garbage bin for daughter to bring in.  I fear falling again and I don't think I could handle another break.  I would not even try to go out the back steps with Copper.

He went running out first thing and grabbed his big ball that is one of his outside toys.  I just told him no, I am not even attempting to get down and throw it or kick it.  He tried to make me feel guilty.

I guess I will post this and be done with it.  Still have to give meds before my night is over...that is not too far off.

Would you believe

Would you believe that this is one single zinnia plant?  I give you my word it is.  Early on something knocked it on it's side...we thought it would die, but it just continued to thrive.  It has been loaded with blooms all fall.    I know this is not a great picture, but you get the idea.

***********

I went to Walmart today...I cannot go a single week without going.  But I am thankful to have one to go to.  In fact, there are two.  One is a lot closer than the one I go to, but it has the city feel to it...everyone in a rush and things torn asunder.  I had much rather drive 8 miles to one where everyone talks to everyone else, and jokes around.

Or say a couple weeks ago, I needed something on the top shelf...I am just a couple or three inches over 5 ft. tall...I don't think I could even touch the top shelf and nothing convenient to climb on.  Besides the fact I don't trust myself doing acrobatics like standing on the bottom shelf as I have done in the past.  So a gentleman probably 15 yrs younget than me was passing...so I said excuse me...would you reach and get this for me?  He was happy to oblige.  (I had looked around for a walmart employee and none were to be found.)

Then, today I was again  reaching on a shelf that I could just barely reach and stuggling to get what I wanted...someone just came and got it for me...I did not even see her coming...but I was thankful for her help.

Other than that and taking care of Copper and Roger...I had did cooking and dishes...the usual things. Took garbage out and carried necessary items to our room.  I still need to take a big box out to the garage but it will probably be tomorrow before I get it out.  And I need to go upstairs and feed kitty.  She is on my legs as I type this and I feel pinned down.

Enjoying the weather

This is from just a few short weeks ago... Copper was enjoying the warm wind that was blowing.

And this describes me...I have been worthless this day.  So much I could have been doing but I have not done any of it except the things I absolutely had to do.  I have napped, and could easily go to sleep now but am afraid I would wake in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to sleep.

I wish I had thought to get a photo of the Apple Crisp thing my daughter made.  She got a thing of puff pastry, and placed it in the cookie sheet...on parchment paper.  She peeled and sliced her apples and I am sure added the spices.  I did not sit and watch so I am guessing.  She made an oatmeal topping.  And I think it is where she added pecans.  It was/is simply delicious.  I love puff pastry anyway.  But I could have eaten the entire thing, even without ice cream.  And I do love ice cream with apple pie or apple crisp.

I am hoping to get up and be a bit more energetic tomorrow...

Favorite subjects....

What are your some of your favorite things to photograph?  Anyone that knows me, knows I love barns and birds and sunflowers..and if you have posted pics of chickens, I will almost always tell you they are one of my favorite subjects.  But I so seldom get to photograph any.   I don't know what it is about them...but I love both roosters and hens, and chicks and just wish I had more chances to take pictures of them.

I uploaded this pic earlier today and just now remembered to finish the post.  I have been busy...but part of that being busy was eating so I could have did it earlier.

I fixed a small pot of navy beans and ham...and then late made a pan of cornbread.  My kind...not the kind with sugar in it.  Roger used to like both kinds, but now doesn't really care for either.  He did enjoy the beans and ham, though.

It has been such a gray day here...and chilly if outside.  I think we are supposed to see some sun tomorrow...I am hoping that has not changed.  I need it.

A finish

 This one I love....

***********

We did see the new doctor.  I am going to have to get used to him.  Our other cardiologist was a one in a million doctor.  So I know it is going to take time.  This doctor was nice, and did not seem in a hurry.  Nothing negative at all about him. I just miss our other doctor.

In the spring will do a echocardiogram to check his valve that was not closing good.  We are in hopes that the Repatha shots have helped.  I am not sure Roger could survive open heart surgery...with his chronic cough.

***********

I have been busy this day.  The daily run to Mcdonald's, vacuuming, using leaf blower on patio, having Copper in and out a couple times along with feeding him...breaking down boxes.  I cannot think what else...but there were other things.  I am going to post this...and not sure what next.

Wonder what is ahead....

I am sitting here just a minute...wondering about what is ahead in more ways than one.  I do wonder what the winter will hold.

And we are ready to head out to meet a new cardiologist this morn.  I so wanted to cancel the appt but knew we would be waiting forever and at least the weather is sunny...not raining nor snowing, either.

I know I am late in posting, but better late than never.

From the past

The trees are basically naked now....ours are anyway,  I see a few down the way that still has green, and I am wondered what they are.  Anyway, this is a shot from several years ago, but I have posted it more than once.  I just simple loved all the color.  It was almost unreal.  And I love that old tractor sitting under the tree.

I have done nothing today except make a small pot of chili...oh, of course I made the run to Mcdonald's.  And I had did dishes.  Other than that just a few piddling things.

And I have worked a lot on my current puzzle.  I want to get it done.  It has been a hard one.  It is THIS ONE.

Sunshine

I read what his is called but for the life of me don't have a clue now...maybe when I post the other pic over on my other blog we can read the tag.  Whatever it is, I love it.  I have never seen this type of glassware? or whatever it is called.  But it makes my heart sing.  And there was several pieces, though I only took two pics of any of it.

Sunshine is another thing that makes my heart sing...specially after having two or three days where it has not shown itself.  Though I dread cold weather, I can deal with it as long as there is a lot of sun.  One year, we had so little sun, I thought winter was never going to end.

I had errands to run...I had a return to Amazon so the drop off I use is just a couple miles away.  I had a bag of various things to take to Good Will...there were some clothes.  You would be proud of me...I donated some capris I have kept for several years but have not worn.  I don't recall why I stopped wearing them, but I did stop.  They were well made and so comfortable...

I also donated a few more books...I have really thinned out the books.  Some I know I won't ever read because the print is really small and the pages very yellowed.   There was a few other things in there but can't recall exactly what as it has been added to the bag over time.

I also had to run by Walmart for about half a dozen things, one of which was an extra half gallon of chocolate ice cream.  Roger has some every night.  I do occasionally.

I have taken the garbage bin out to the road for pick up tomorrow, and am going to get my pjs on here shortly, even though the sun is still shining...

Would like some tea?

I meant to take a lot of pics at the antique places we went, specially the first but only took 3 or 4. This was one of them.

************

It has been a rainy, dark day.  And was kind of hectic to begin with.  I stopped by the grocery to pick up 4 things before I went on to Mcdonald's for Roger standard breakfast.  I go the the self-check to pay and realized I had left my wallet in the car.  I always take it out and put it in the cup holder till I am not searching for it when I pay at Mcds and forgot to get it when I went in the grocery.

Just so you know, I did not know for sure I was stopping...if it was raining hard, I was going to skip it.  But it was only misting so I thought I might as well stop and pick up the items.

Then I get to McDonald's....I could barely hear the girl when she asked me what I wanted.  I think some of them forget to turn on something.  Anyway, I ordered, and paid, then got to the window to pick up my food.  She asks did I get a large coffee and a large Coke...I said no, just a large coffee...no Coke.  She asks 'Diet Coke?' I said no, just a large coffee.  There was one sitting there and another girl handed her another...they tried to give me both of them...I said no, just the one...they told me i could have it for free.  I told them no, I can't drink it...it gives me heartburn and I was thinking to myself Roger only needs one...I finally convinced them to keep it.

The kids there are really some super kids...I think the one was fairly new.  A couple have moved on I think or else work a different shift.  But I am sure they will find a good job cause they sure were polite and knew how to work.  It was always fun to chat with them a few seconds if not a big line.  If a big line, we didn't really talk any.

I made fried rice...I think it is only the second time since being here.  When we are tired of everything, it always tastes so good.

He went that way!

Every time I see this, I think it is pointing out which direction to go.

I always wonder how people every made it to their destination before GPS and google maps.  They have made life so much easier.

And do you ever think of the pioneers and early explorers?  They sure had the nerve to take off for sometimes years at a time.  Or the wagon trains going west.  Just think of no good bed at the end of the day.  Not even a comfortable chair to sit it when the day is done.
***********
Sarah came here and worked from here yesterday and stayed with Roger till Rachel and I could take off for a few hours...we went back close to home to some antique shops.  I love to just look around but not in the mood to buy anything for me.  There was stuff I like, but I know I do not need anything else.

And the most pleasant part of the day was going to eat at the local diner...just to sit down and have a breakfast that I had not cooked and to not have to clean up after cooking!

What is something that highlights your day?
