Would like some tea?

I meant to take a lot of pics at the antique places we went, specially the first but only took 3 or 4. This was one of them.

************

It has been a rainy, dark day.  And was kind of hectic to begin with.  I stopped by the grocery to pick up 4 things before I went on to Mcdonald's for Roger standard breakfast.  I go the the self-check to pay and realized I had left my wallet in the car.  I always take it out and put it in the cup holder till I am not searching for it when I pay at Mcds and forgot to get it when I went in the grocery.

Just so you know, I did not know for sure I was stopping...if it was raining hard, I was going to skip it.  But it was only misting so I thought I might as well stop and pick up the items.

Then I get to McDonald's....I could barely hear the girl when she asked me what I wanted.  I think some of them forget to turn on something.  Anyway, I ordered, and paid, then got to the window to pick up my food.  She asks did I get a large coffee and a large Coke...I said no, just a large coffee...no Coke.  She asks 'Diet Coke?' I said no, just a large coffee.  There was one sitting there and another girl handed her another...they tried to give me both of them...I said no, just the one...they told me i could have it for free.  I told them no, I can't drink it...it gives me heartburn and I was thinking to myself Roger only needs one...I finally convinced them to keep it.

The kids there are really some super kids...I think the one was fairly new.  A couple have moved on I think or else work a different shift.  But I am sure they will find a good job cause they sure were polite and knew how to work.  It was always fun to chat with them a few seconds if not a big line.  If a big line, we didn't really talk any.

I made fried rice...I think it is only the second time since being here.  When we are tired of everything, it always tastes so good.

He went that way!

Every time I see this, I think it is pointing out which direction to go.

I always wonder how people every made it to their destination before GPS and google maps.  They have made life so much easier.

And do you ever think of the pioneers and early explorers?  They sure had the nerve to take off for sometimes years at a time.  Or the wagon trains going west.  Just think of no good bed at the end of the day.  Not even a comfortable chair to sit it when the day is done.

Sarah came here and worked from here yesterday and stayed with Roger till Rachel and I could take off for a few hours...we went back close to home to some antique shops.  I love to just look around but not in the mood to buy anything for me.  There was stuff I like, but I know I do not need anything else.

And the most pleasant part of the day was going to eat at the local diner...just to sit down and have a breakfast that I had not cooked and to not have to clean up after cooking!

What is something that highlights your day?

Their days are numbered

Our trees are almost bare.  We have had some hard, heavy rains.  Combine with the wind, the trees are almost bare.  Except for a young one she planted a few years ago.  It has still got most of its leaves.

Copper had to go to the vet for his yearly visit.  One vet hurt him 2 or 3 yrs ago when giving a shot, now none of them can touch him. He will listen to them, follow their commands about sitting, lay down, etc...and even wag his tale...but no touching. So Rachel has to start sedating him the night before.  And this one vet will get down on the floor with him and daughter, and daughter holds his mouth open/gums  and his ears and moves them however she wants them to go,  and even places the stethoscope on him while she listens.

Then when it comes to the shots and blood drawing, they take him back and he lays down and they put a heavy blanket on him, and he does okay with it.

I don't remember if I told you, or just meant to tell you...he notices scents more than any dog I have ever seen, and I have seen and been around a LOT of dogs.  He walks out a lot of times and immediately is sniffing the air, trying to figure out from what direction a scent is coming from.

Then the other side of that is, if you are walking along with your hands at your side, at some point, his nose is going to be right in your hand.  If you have had anything at all out of the ordinary in your pocket, his nose is going there.  When Kitty lays on my legs at night and he comes up...he examines every inch of my lap.  The throw will be wet from his examination.

So, remember he doesn't let the vet/crew touch him.  BUT, he feels not such thing about putting his nose in their hands!  (They do give him treats for listening to their commands.)  But still...it is just funny.  And today he put his paws on the counter to sniff out the treats, and they some they give normally, but he smelled the salmon ones, and would not settle for the others.

He has it made and doesn't even know it.
