Have you ever seen a house like this?

The other day on our detour coming home from Indianapolis, we passed this little house. I shot this through the window....sort of wish now that we had stopped. Enlarge it and look...have you ever seen a house finished like this? Do you know what causes the 'bumps?' I really have no idea why it is like this. I am wondering if I will say 'Duh' once someone tells what is actually going on.

  1. Can't tell for sure, but it appears to be a brick house, every so often a brick is turned to stick out. The whole thing is then painted white. This is just my guess.

  2. Hmmmm---not sure, Rose, what that is. Looks like concrete with splotches!!! ha... Interesting...Don't think I've ever seen that before.

    Have a good day tomorrow.

  4. I brought it up large and even had Mike look at it. No idea! Looks like they stuck balls cut in half all over it and painted it. Weird!

  5. Very interesting mystery finish to that house. I have no idea what has been done to get this effect.

  6. I don't know what it is either, but it isn't attractive at all. Wonder why they'd do that?

  7. Yes, I've seen these, Rose. I would guess the exterior is stucco and those small "bumps" are some kind of resinous design element.

It's not my thing, but some folks like the look.

Pretty good shot from a car window!

P.S. I'm having a hard time getting through all my blogs myself! But, you know, I don't expect anyone to do that. My hope is that if people see things they like, they'll stop, and occasionally make a comment...

  8. Tee hee. This is new to me! Looks like dotted Swiss fabric. Someone like polka dots, I guess. ;-)

  9. EG, I knew it looked like something but couldn't think what...that is exactly it!

  10. Add my name to the list of those who have no idea what causes the bumps. And I've never seen anything like it, either. But it sure is interesting!.

  11. I think I've seen something like it but I'm not sure. I haven't had the chance to show Hubs yet.
I don't think it's brick as Leedra suggests. The white part seems too flat. I'd go with stucco but it looks flat for that too.
    Very odd exterior!

  12. I'm with EG. It looks like dotted swiss. No, I've never seen a house like that.

  13. Had to come back and look again. I see the Dotted Swiss look now that somebody pointed it out. Guess the bumps are too random for brick. If they turned brick on end every so often they would be very consistent in the spacing, and it does not appear to be.
