A different view....

I post a picture taken in November over on my other blog, Time Stand Still.....right Here.
When I posted the other photo, we all wondered what it is used for...see those poles leaning against the tree? We think they are poles for a tee-pee. Then look at that bench....both things combined made Roger and I wonder if it belongs to some kind of re-enactor/mountain man type. I don't know who owns it, but I sure wish I had one like it.

It is hard to see the chimney in this photo, but if you look at the other photo on my other blog, you will see it. There is just nothing quite like sitting my the fire with a loved one...be it husband, kid, parent, or friend. It is true about any fire, even if it is a bonfire outside...

Some of my favorite memories are of when Roger and I lived in Tennessee, we had a fireplace. We only used it for a little bit, but in that time we did have a few fires in it. Also my friend came and we got to sit by the fire and visit.

Later Roger bricked it in, and we got a woodburner...a Buckstove to be exact. It had double walls, with a fan in back that circulated the heat. At the time we got it, the double walls with a fan was a new idea....and a fine idea at that.

We have an old garage here...it has our lawnmower and some other junk in it. I keep coming back to the idea of cleaning it out, using a power washer on the inside, then painting the walls and getting a woodburner to go in it....I would probably sit out there and have a fire sometimes even in the summer even.

Then I could smell woodsmoke any time I wanted to....

  2. Mmmm. I love the aroma of a wood fire!

The log building looks quite small..but it has a window so I do wonder what it was built for originally.

  3. That looks like a cozy place to sit by the fire! We have a wood burning fireplace and use it almost every night in the winter.

  4. We use our fireplace just about every evening when the weather turns cold. As a matter of fact, we have a fire going as I write this.

  5. Hi Rose, I want it TOO.... I remember when you posted the other one in December. It's just so cute!!!!!

One stipulation for buying a house to me is that it HAS to have a wood-burning fireplace in it... If it didn't, I wouldn't buy it... Crazy, aren't I???? I just love my fireplace.

    Betsy

  6. I'd love to have a little cabin on my property like that. A fireplace would be nice and I could have all my craft things spread out and it could be a 'woman cave'! :)

  7. A fine shot of this unusual looking place. Your suggested use of the poles sounds very reasonable.
Wood burning smoke does bring back lots of memories of camping trips and a fireplace. I have one now, but the chimney is cracked so I prohibited from building a fire in it! Bummer!

I've never had a fireplace inside my home, but we've had lots of bonfires at the farm & lots of fun & talks around them!!! =)

  11. Another chapter of your book! I swear you would have a best-seller...

Could you put some chapters together and send them to an agent and see what happens?

I'll bet you could find a lot of information on how to do that on the Internet!

  12. What a great cabin and bench..and a bird on the roof edge. We don't use our fireplace any more. I would like to have one of those Chimineas outdoors for the nice months.
