Clinton County Courthouse, Frankfort, Indiana

I have been meaning to post these photos of the Clinton County Courthouse....it is located in Frankfort, Indiana and was built in 1882-1884 and was designed by George W. Bunting. I would say job well done!
I only managed to capture a couple of details as we passed through. At least we were going slow.
It makes me want to go back and be there after business hours and to have time to walk around and take more photos. This courthouse is another beauty.
**************
On the home front, we have been quite busy....doing a job or two that needed to be done here at home. Roger replaced a toilet...nothing was broken or anything like that...we just wanted one of the tall ones. Our bathroom is quite small so talk about a job! It is so hard to work when you don't have room. I am so thankful that he can do about anything. I kind of wanted to do it now before we got any older...I knew someday we would probably really want/require one. So just decided to do it while we had the time and was able.

And today I have hung three loads of laundry out and have most of it put away. Just have to bring in the towels and fold and put them way. I feel like I have run a race the number of times I have been up and down the steps. The first load went off balance two or three times before it was finished...I had rinsed it twice and cannot remember if it stopped on the last cycle or not.

Bubbie has been in high form...we are going to have to get out a toy or I am going to have to take time to play hide and seek with him after while. He has been after me off and on all day...tackling my sandals, nipping me, reaching to grab me as I pass....and he just has a look that you know he is wanting to get into something but he is so rough the other cats don't like to play with him. So it is left to us to entertain him sometimes.

Also, I have really avoided feeding hummingbirds because of the cats, but I keep seeing them looking till they almost make me feel guilty. I guess I could rig one up high enough till the cats could not jump and get them. But the season is about over so might wait until next year.

That is it from my corner of the world...I need to go get those towels in and then I might settle down and either read or sew....

  2. Thought I would have a look at all your other blogs. How do you manage to do it. I spend all my time on the one. I take my hat off to you. Lol.
You canny beat the old building can you, they sure knew how to build them then.

  4. What a lovely old court house. I so enjoy seeing images of court houses. My Dad had a collection of pictures he took of all of the court houses in Ohio. It took quite a while to get them all, but he did. :)

We are planning on replace our toilet with a chair height toilet, too. We had one at the hotel where we were this weekend and it was wonderful. When we did the bathroom over on our third floor we put one in and daughter is giving us good reviews.

  5. Love that courthouse! The neighborhood cats lurk around my yard too hoping to pounce on a bird.

  6. That courthouse is quite something. So elaborate, wonder why the lady is kind of bent over? Our bathroom is very tiny, and we had been needing a new toilet for over ten years! Ours was too low for me to get up. But I procrastinated. Then a couple months ago, we had an emergency, and I HAD to have a high, handicapped one. Thanks to a good friend, we got an emergency installation! He told me that all new buildings have the high ones now. I really love the new one!

Glad you got your new toilet put in... Like you said, do it now when you are able!!!

Hope you can feed the little hummers next year. We've had quite a few here this year also.

  9. The courthouse details are just lovely. I did a couple of big loads of laundry yesterday it was a good day for it. Just on my way to hang out the bathmats and then put Mollys blanket in the washer.

    Have a good day,

    Gill

  10. That's a fine looking court house with lots of style and interesting design. You got some good details too when driving by. These places are so busy on weekdays it's hard to park and there are people everywhere (at least around our local one). Nice post.

  11. Wonderful details on that courthouse! I hope you do go back to get more photos.

When do the hummingbirds fly south from your part of Indiana? Hummingbirds are here till after Labour Day and LAST year they were here till almost the end of September.

  12. Wonderful courthouse! Hey, hanging clothes out on the line...how lovely! That fresh smell, especially in the sheets when you crawl between them for the first time. I love that!

  13. Indiana has a lot of nice courthouses, usually of Bedford limestone. We have some lovely old buildings in our downtown...courthouse, old jail, old post office. I keep meaning to go down after work hours and take photos but never seem to get around to it. Maybe you will inspire me. We need to install a new toilet upstairs, but have to get new floor first. I'm glad Mike can do stuff like that, too. Handy husbands are a blessing.
