One more shot of snow....

I just cannot resist posting another shot of the snow...I have a feeling we won't be seeing any like this for a while to come.  It is supposed to be in the 50's by the weekend.  I cannot wait...I am just so anxious to go outside without having to wonder will I need a jacket.  I can't wait to sit outside to read....or to have breakfast on the front porch.  Just so many things to look forward to.

I am slowly but surely working on getting rid of things I don't use, can't wear, or just no longer want.  I keep slimming down on the number of books I am keeping.  I think I am about down to the bone in that regard.  There might be a few more, but very, very few.  Most of the ones that are left are treasured....I have several photography books that I cannot bare to part with though I seldom look at them any more...one is about worn out literally.

Then I have my Alaska books...can't get rid of them.  Nor my diaries and journals of people traveling west by wagon train...or some of them are just journals of people/immigrants after they are living there.  I would love to have some of these in digital format...specially Sod & Stubble by John Ise and Grass of the Earth by Aagot Raaen.  Even though I have the physical copy, I would love to have them on my kindle.

Back to de-cluttering...I keep telling myself if I get rid of just one thing a day, it will help.  But usually, when I go to find one thing, I find a few more.  There have been days when I didn't discard anything, but still my sister-in-law and I are working on this idea together...we report in to each other almost every day and it really helps to keep me motivated.

  1. Another nice snowy photo! I know what you mean about getting rid of excess "stuff". I went through one of our two store rooms last spring, and gave away a ton of stuff to a gal and told her to have a yard sale. She wondered if I wanted any of the money from it, and I said NO - I just don't want any of it back!! LOL

  2. It's a lovely snowy picture, I do love them but yes I am ready for spring. I'm decluttering too but I keep finding things that stop me in my tracks, like boxes of old photos I haven't seen in a while. One step forward, two steps back :)

  4. That is a beautiful postcard picture. Wowie1! you do get the snow. We didn't have any snow this year---well not in the lowland just the higher elevations and of course the mountains. Your snow pics in your previous post are excellent. I like them all but the one with the old chair is very nice. MB

  6. Beautiful snow picture... I agree that we probably won't have anymore snow this year.. At least, I hope not.

We had gorgeous sunshine today but it was still cold (cold wind)... BUT--I wasn't complaining!!!! ha

Good Luck with the downsizing. George and I both did that when we got married and moved to this home... BUT--since it's been 12 yrs. now, we probably need to do it again (starting with the garage).

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  7. This is a beautiful picture. Every time I pare down and get rid of something, I find a need for it shortly thereafter. Even if I have not used it in five years.

  9. Our snow is slowly melting but we still have more up on the ridge here then they do in town.
I purged a lot when we moved out here but I could still purge a lot more things.

  10. A fine snow scene with those covered trees and traveled lane. I admire you and your friends doing "throw aways" and sharing the motivation to keep at it.

  12. I want to begin to declutter our basement. I am thinking about starting that job tomorrow. We'll see how it goes, or if something interrupts my plan.
