A new quilt project

This is what I paused to work on while waiting to get more batiks...it is going to be a baby quilt for Roger's cousin's daughter.  I am having to order fabric for the backing...but soon as it comes in, I am going to get it together and get it quilted.   There things that I wish were different about it...but too late now.  This is only the second time I have used pre-cuts.  I used a charm pack called Bandana by Me and My Sister for Moda.  (For those of you who don't know...Moda is a fabric company and Me & My Sister are actually sisters that design some of the fabric lines.)

When the baby quilt is done, I want to get started back on my daughter's Lotus quilt.  She ordered batiks and had them sent to me, and she mailed some she had picked up, plus I bought some more.  I should have plenty to finish her quilt now.  I am wanting to get it back to it.

I am not sure how hot it got here today...I hung out a load of clothes at about 3:30 p.m. and there was no doubt in my mind that it would get dry.  They have been in for an hour or so.  I know I told one blog friend that our temps had been up to one temp...I think 84 or 85ºF yesterday.  I was getting that temp from on line...but when our local weather came on, he said it had been up to 89º.  Right now it is 91º...I just simply cannot take the real hot temps any more...I hoed the tomato plants and came in so red in the face!

I/we are going to be busy for the next couple of days.  I should get in some visiting but not sure how much.

  1. we had tornado warnings and watches here in Southern Ontario, as your hot front and a cold front went through. Wild weather out there!! Love your new quilt top. Nora's quilt is done, there will be lots of photos on my blog tomorrow.

  2. Rose, This baby quilt is beautiful. I love the fabric colors. You are so very talented. It was hot/humid here today also. I had to give up working in the yard about 2 years ago...just can't tolerate the heat any longer.

  3. Love this! What a nice simple pattern, but very pretty with these fabrics. I'll have to remember this one the next time I need a baby quilt quickly.

  4. The baby quilt is very cute! I really like the pattern. 91 sounds wonderful...it was 103 here last Monday and suppose to be 101 on Friday. I melt faster than an ice cream cone in weather like that. Take care,

  5. What a lovely wee quilt; you've no idea how much I envy your talent!

Heat and I don't get along well together anymore either... I'll water my garden as soon as it gets light, and that'll be me for the day!

  9. I like the quilt pictured. I would like to see the batik quilt for your daughter---soon. ha!
It is hot here too---we really hot for us and no rain which I am missing a lot. It has been up to 89 here but the past week in the mid 80s and now cooling down to 79 for today. We all have these little micro climates and we have been warmer up here than in town.
We built cages around the tomatoes and they are pretty cool looking. We have 12 tomato plants right now but I love cherry tomatoes so I need at least one just for me.
the rabbits have been busy in our cutting garden--almost chewed down all my Lilies---out comes the shotgun I believe.

  10. Your quilt is very pretty! It is very hot here, too, and I'm like you and don't do very well in the heat. I turn so red that I feel like I'm on fire! So my outside chores have to be done very early morning or late evening. Otherwise I'm a real girl and have to be where the a/c is!

  11. The quilt is pretty- you are quite talented. My squares would be all cock-eyed and crooked! LOL! It's blazing here too- the weather station says it is 106 heat index...jeepers..I'm not going back out there.
