Progress, or not...

I am doing this and I just am not crazy about it.  I am not crazy about the string blocks by themself, either.  I don't know why.  It is getting the scraps used.  So trying to make myself go ahead and make more.   I have even thought about making two more of the crumb centered blocks and using the rest of the string blocks and seeing how big it would be that way.  No matter what I do, it is not going to be a beautiful quilt.  I will probably like it once it is made and washed and has that crinkled, cottony feeling.

I don't know why I just cannot settle down and get this made.  Or else put the blocks away and forget about it.

Part of it may be that my scraps are such a mess.  I need time and a method to organize them.   Maybe it would be easier then.

We are supposed to have sunshine tomorrow...and Thursday temps are supposed to be in the 60's!  Let's pray they are right because I can sure use both sunshine and warmer days.

I don't have much to say because all these same old thoughts go round and round in my head...

A little video from a few years ago...

  2. I find it to be cheerful and uplifting. Like most talented people, you have a critical eye with your work. Lorelei painting and dancing is too cute!!! We should all do our work just as joyfully.

  3. I'm not a quilter so I have no advice. I hope you can figure out how to proceed with the quilt.

  4. I'm finding it is easier to make something with my scraps than organize them...are your string blocks square? how about having every other row slanted in the opposite direction? or framing some of the crumb blocks in a brighter color? Although like you said once it's made and washed it will be so much nicer and you are so close to being done.

  5. love the video, that is what music does to me, sitting in Culvers eating a burger last week, I was bouncing in my seat. I am ocd about symmetry and things matching, I like the quilt if all the bordered ones had the same color border, the dark border is the one I like, but the white would be ok if they were all white... I don't quilt either.... my advice is Always Do What YOU like and forget about what others like.

  6. Your little joyful painter lifted my heart. She is a sweetie pie :)
I love any quilt made with scraps, all the colors and patterns of fabric just blend together into a happy quilt. I think you just need to take a few days off and then come back to it with a new perspective.
Thank you so much for your prayers.
We can use all and any we get . . . today is another day with doctor appointments, lab work and procedures. It's so hard, but Jesus is not letting us walk through this alone.
    God bless you,
    Connie :)

I'm a very visual person so I'd have to have them all arranged so the shapes and colors balance. Boring I know. :-) What about sashing to tie it all together? However you finish it, you will feel a sense of accomplishment that you put all these scraps to such good use. :-) Quilts are individual pieces of art so enjoy your beautiful project.
