NOT what I am doing

Since I am not working on much right at the present time, I thought I would show a couple things my daughter is working on...

She has all the blocks above made and has them set aside while she experiments with a design she made.

This doesn't show as good as in person in ways.  She is going to do it in a different colorway.  Right now she is trying to make up her mind to finish this one before she starts the new colorway.

This is what I see lots of the time when I look down at my lap at night.  He thinks he owns me and that all I should be at his command.  He does bring a lot of joy.

I have no plans for the next few days.  I should sit and make a list of what needs to be done.  I never was one for making lists, except in my head.  That doesn't work too well any more, so I should start writing a physical list that I can check off.

I have so much I need to take care of...besides all I want to do.   I am slower than Christmas and cannot get used to that.   Have you slowed down as you have gotten older?  My mom did not slow down at my age.  She could get down in the floor to do things and get back up with ease.   It is a real struggle for me to get up, and I cannot get on my knees on a hard surface for love nor money.  So always have a pad to go under them.

I hope your weekend is a good one.

  1. Bud has terrible arthritis in his hands & knees...his knees crack when he walks.

    Love the work she's doing.

  2. I have way less energy than I had 20 years ago. I noticed a serious lessening in my late 60's ( I'm 73 now). I can't get up from the floor without a struggle either. I know some people have no problem even at my age but each person is different.

  3. Your daughter has inherited your talent! And your kitty is so beautiful! Yes, I am so very slow. A chore that I could do in one day now takes weeks. And I cannot get down on the floor, because I cannot get up. And my balance is very bad as well.

  4. I have definitely slowed down Rose, and chores are a chore! I split my tasks into segments now, don't get things done as quickly but am happy I can get them done even if I am as slow as a snail.

Your daughter's quilt design is really beautiful. I love those colors she has chosen.

Your little cat is as cute as a button.

  7. my mother was in a wheel chair at age 55 and died at 63, that is why I am walking and eating well. trying to ward off the dreaded diabetes that killed her. I can't kneel, even on the bed. and would need help if I got on the floor. I like all the quilts your daughter is working on.

  8. Your daughter enjoys the same hobby as yours. I know I am slowing age as I grow older and getting lazier too. But it all depends on my mood.

Your daughter is doing beautiful work on both projects. I must admit I'm partial to the blue one just because I love the shades. Slowing down with age could be a week long conversation. Just a few years back, I'd garden from 9-4. Now, I'm doing good to go 9-12 or 1. Then I use ice packs the rest of the day. I walk slower, and know better than to get down on the ground without calling the fire department first.

  11. Am I slowing down? well, yes. I huff and puff after lifting. Can't do work on my knees either. I have found sitting on a little stool helpful. I do still get on the floor with the dogs, but it's hard going getting up again. I do make lists, mostly grocery. But I have always found lists helpful. I always smile when my blog friends talk about "bullet journaling". I don't think I have enough things I want to do to utilize THAT process, lol.

  12. I'm 71 and yes, I've slowed down some. Part of it is my own fault, because I'm healthy enough to exercise and don't. I can still get up and down, but I have to work a little at it, every time I want to pin a quilt! The physical is annoying, but the brain bugs me the most. I have to concentrate on something or it falls out of my head, when used-to-be all the peripheral stuff tucked itself into my memory just fine. LOL It ain't for sissies, right?
