Teacups....

I would have liked to take some individual pics of the teacups, but the store they were in was crowded for it.  Actually, it is so crammed full of stuff, that there just is not room to move if there are a dozen people in it.  So I snapped a couple pics because I know two or three of my blogfriends love teacups.  And I do love them, too, I just do not collect them.  ( I do suggest that you click to expand the view.)

It is so hard not to collect them...but I have been resisting that temptation for several years now.  And being that I am trying to rid myself of things, I try not to bring anything new into the house that is not necessary.

Well, there is an exception to that...fabric and sewing items.  But will save that for another post.

We actually had quite a bit of thunder...I thought for a bit we were going to have one of the regular old thunderstorms we used to have, but it was very short lived.  It does keep coming across the TV screen that places south of here about 45 minutes or a bit more experienced 5 inches of rain, and the highway was flooding.  I hope we don't get that!

I hope you all have good days ahead.

  1. Beautiful! I have most of my Mom's old teacups and several of the ones in the pictures are the same as Mom had. I think they are so beautiful, but never actually use them.Mom used to pull them out on Sundays when we had company.

  7. I especially like the lily of the valley cup. It's unique. Getting rid of things? I often ask my daughter if she wants it. She says "keep it for me". It all seems like a waste of time.

  8. hope that storm leaves you alone, and the teacups are beautiful. I don't consider your sewing and quilting collecting. that is a hobby that is fun and creative and useful.

  9. I should have said a craft not a hobby, a skill is what you have

  11. The teacups are beautiful. They always remind me of a kindler, gentler, more simple time. I've been to high tea a couple of times, and the dishes always lend to the fun of the event. But, I'm with you, at this point in my life I'm not collecting anything. :-)

  12. I love today's post about teacups!! The ones you showed are so pretty, especially the ones in the second photo. I think I may have one just like the one with the violets. Just today my DH asked me what did I think would happen to my collection once I'm gone. I told him I think each kid/grandkid will take a few to remember me by and then they can cart them all off to the thrift store from whence they came.

  14. Those teacups really are beautiful. It would be hard to pick out just one. I thought about Granny Marigold as soon as I saw them. It is rare to find a pretty teacup and saucer in a thrift store here. Must be because real southern folks were not hot tea drinkers. We are trying to get rid of stuff too. As mama used to say, there's not room to lay a pin down around here.

  16. what an appealing display of teacups! I can't say I have a particular weakness for teacups, but I do love whole sets of dishes. It's hard to resist buying more sets, even though I don't need them!

    Here's hoping your weather behaves!

  17. Pretty cups. I have ONE (a mini) yellow rose of Texas.

As for weather. We could use some rain here. But, as you say, no flooding!

  19. Oh such pretty teacups, I don't know how you resisted - and that round teapot in the first photo. I have several of the teacups in my collection. I too am trying to not collect too much - but my heart breaks if I leave a pretty teacup behind. My husband is right this minute, down at the clubhouse at a community yard sale, trying to get rid of 18 big boxes of things we purged from my dishes colletions, plus I sold 3 sets (five big boxes) last week of dishes that I no longer wanted. I listed them on our local facebook "for sale" page and they actually sold within 10 seconds of listing them. Hope he is having as much good luck with his yard sale things.

  20. I love old tea cups and dishes. It is something I would love to collect but there is just not enough room to store all the things I want. I don't need anything else to dust!

  21. I love seeing pretty tea cups/saucers. So many lovely designs. I wish I had a taste for hot tea, but coffee is my favorite drink and now reflux keeps me from enjoying it! lol
