I want to share a couple things....

A couple sunflower shots...

they were both taken late Sunday afternoon.

******************
I have nothing important to share.  A ho-hum beginning to the week but ho-hum is good in this case.  Things could always be a lot worse.

We did drive over to Tuscola, Illinois to what used to be the Outlet Mall.  It used to be full of shops....today it was empty store after empty store.  I doubt there were 2 dozen cars there to shop.  I so wish I had counted.  I seriously don't think there was a dozen and a half.    But was feeling generous and said 2 dozen. We stopped in the kitchen store...just because I always go there.

Every so often I get in the mood to buy a slicer of some sort.  But I look at them and think they would just be something else to wash and store.  So I will continue to use a knife.  A knife is quick to wash and I already have them and a place for them.

I came across the video below by chance...being horses it caught my attention.  You just have to watch it...and notice all the time that she is setting while talking...notice the horse gathered close to her...and one reaches and nudges her every so often.  I think she is amazing...

  1. I love the sunflowers. I had some like that last year but storms kept blowing them down to the ground. This year several volunteers came up, so I let them grow. Instead of having the large flowers, they had about a zillion small ones. But the goldfinches still like them.

I love Emma M. and her horses. Did you notice that the long flowing manes of the ones standing beside her? Oh-so-gorgeous! Her hair even looked somewhat like that too! I will watch Part 2 now!

  3. The first sunflower photo is amazingly gorgeous. The color is almost burnished, or antiqued. This horse trainer is so unique! When she could not train that mare, she thought to just make friends with it,then everything fell into place. She is very lucky that she can even walk after that fall.

  6. I love your sunflower shots. There is an outlet mall about 45 min. from us and we were just talking about visiting one day if we ever feel like it.

  7. Oh man, that horse video, I couldn't even get a horse to slow down or turn or anything. My Godmother gave me a slow cooker, I thought that was pretty cool. I think if you're raised with them it's a whole different thing. Yeah, I love how the one is nudging her for attention, the dogs I take care of do that to me.
It's sad to see empty stores, that happened with the Shopkos very suddenly here, but a whole mall, that's so sad. There was a South Park episode about that.
I feel the same way about most kitchen gadgets and yes, slicers too. About the only thing I really use is the lime or lemon press.

  8. I especially love that orangish sunflower. Back when it got warm up here in April I used to plant a lot of sunflowers so I could watch the birds eat them in the fall. But our spring weather has been coming later and later and I just forget to put them out. We used to go to the Outlet Mall in Michigan City all the time. But actually we don't buy that many things anymore and I have welcomed the opportunity to pass a lot of my gadgets to my daughter and to Corey's wife.

  9. I really enjoyed the video. She is amazing! It amazes me that the horses stood behind her so beautifully all during the video. I hate that I am so afraid of horses because I love them so much. Horses are absolutely beautiful. Your sunflowers are beautiful too. My sunflowers didn't bloom too pretty this summer.

  12. All the malls around here are closing or being turned into Doctor's offices. I don't care what the news says, the economy is not doing well. It might be good for some people, but the average person is struggling.
