A finish

I finished this today...keep in mind it was only 750 pieces.  And it was an easy one.  As Karen mentioned in her comment on my post yesterday, I don't do the border first.  Well, seldom any more.  I think I have did one, possibly two doing the borders first in the past few years.  The first time I saved the border till last was just to see if I could do it...to see if it would be any harder.

What I found was that it is not a bit harder.  Notice how the sections are worked in the photo below...and then look up above and how they fit together.

I could move them around so much easier without the borders being on.  And I don't think I have ever worked one where I haven't ended up needing to move at least one worked section.  Even when I tried to work them in the area I thought they were supposed to be...

Roger is done laying down...he laid down about 9:00 p.m....he does not feel good at all.  He had been sleeping in his recliner off an on all evening.  He isn't running a temperature.  I do not know what to think.  And with his stroke, he has a hard time telling how he feels bad.  It is almost more stress than he can stand to try to tell me.  He just says it hits in waves.  It has been a while since he has had a time like this.  I hope and pray that he gets up feeling better tomorrow.  He got up earlier than normal yesterday  and I think a bit earlier today.    So I don't know if he is extra tired or what.  Keep him in your prayers please.

  1. I have never heard of doing a puzzle without doing the outside first! Now I'm itching to try one that way. It makes sense what you're saying about being able to move sections around easier. I know exactly what you're saying. Very cool!

  2. That looks like a fun puzzle to do. I haven't put a puzzle together in years. You know, I'm going to add that to my grocery list and buy one. That would be fun. Hope Roger gets to feeling better. Dan came home last Tuesday feeling bad and was sick all week. He worked today and was feeling much better.

  4. You and Karen are making me want to work a puzzle again, even though I know better than to start one. The one you just finished looks like a fun one to do. I love the kitties! I hope your Roger feels better soon.

  5. I will pray for Roger tonight! Have you thought of taking him back to the doctor, and telling him just what you said here? You say the puzzle is ONLY 750 pieces! That is too much for us; you must be a puzzle expert. In fact I know you are. We cannot wait to try your system on our next puzzle! It makes so much sense!

  7. I'm amazed that you finished that puzzle already. I like how you worked it in sections.
Hopefully Roger will feel much better tomorrow. It must be so frustrating for him not to be able to tell you exactly how he feels.

  8. You got that puzzle done quickly! I have several cat puzzles since I'm such a cat lover. I'm working on a puzzle now that is hard. It is a mystery puzzle and comes out different than the picture on the box. Then after you are done you have to solve a mystery using the puzzle. I'll let you know how it goes.

I sure hope Roger feels better and you stay well too!

As I care for a father who has similar difficulties relating what's going on with him and who hates going to bed, I sympathise and you certainly have my prayers for some relief for Roger.

Love that puzzle and getting insight into your process. YAM xx

  10. Now I feel like wanting to shop for a puzzle to work on. I hope Roger will feel better soon. It can be very stressful not knowing how he is feeling.

  12. You sure finished that in good time.
Poor Roger. I bet he has anxiety or depression and that is hard for any of us to describe, but with all he has been through, probably harder. I hope he feels better this morning.
    God bless.

  16. Keeping you and Roger in my thoughts and prayers, as always. I often don't know what Terry is trying to explain when he doesn't feel well. Sometimes symptoms cross. Like Terry's Afib. We thought they were RA/COPD related. I know exactly how you are worrying about Roger. Hope he's good when he wakes up today. I don't think I ever did a puzzle without starting with an edge.
    xx, Carol

  17. I was never a big fan of jigsaws and neither was my father, but after his stroke he found that jigsaws were a good way of keeping occupied without too much mental strain.

I'm sorry to hear your husband isn't doing so well at the moment.

  18. Nice puzzle.
I'm going to start another one later today.
It is only 500 pieces this time and we are NOT going to do the border first!. : )

  20. I'm sorry to hear that Roger is feeling poorly. I certainly will pray that he is back to 100% very soon. Although I'm not a jigsaw puzzle worker (I prefer crossword puzzles), I bought my parents a Ravensburger puzzle for Christmas and my mom loved it. She had it done so fast, I think I should have gotten her a bigger, harder one. Maybe next time! I like your kitty cats! xoxo

  22. Love the puzzle. I have been trying to do a puzzle. I had chemo and they told me it would be good for my mind. I am not too good at it though. Praying for your Roger.
