Bits

This is going to be a mixed up post...so beware.

First a sunset from the other night at the strip pits.  I don't really like the sun being almost dead center, but I wanted the clouds as they are in this shot, so that is how it is.  Other than the sunset, not much was happening out there.

Older daughter and I went to a quilt shop on Saturday.  We immediately saw fabrics that Lorelei's mom would love as pillow cases....

The above two pillowcases are the result of that trip.  I was finishing the bottom one at 2:00 a.m. this morn.

How about a tattered Tiger Swallowtail?  It is the only one I have photographed this year.

And here we have my new hibiscus...just planted in early summer.  It has been well worth the money, even if it does not survive the winter.
************
I had a sort of bad week last week...I had to go to the dentist, and the ordeal is too long to tell here.  But believe me it was an ordeal, and not over yet.  That was Tuesday of last week, and yesterday just started to feel half normal.

That is about all the time I have...had more to say but this is enough.  I have to get busy...hope you all are having a nice week....

  1. Nice fabric for pillowcases. After finishing the pillowcase, what time did you sleep? Lovely butterfly and beautiful hibiscus. Hope it will survive the winter. Hope you will get back to normal soon after the ordeal at the dentist.

  3. I love the pillowcases. You are right, the fabric is perfect. I'm sorry to hear you had dental problems. Dental issues are the worst in my opinion. I do hope you are feeling much better and will soon be completely done with any return visits.

  4. Beautiful sunset and those pillow cases are perfect. I love the butterfly and pretty Hibiscus too. I recently had dental issues too and it also took me a week to feel back to normal. I was supposed to go back but I canceled. I'm not ready for more yet. I hope your next visit goes smoothly. Have a great day :)

  6. Any trip to the dentist is an "ordeal" which really means "nightmare!" I hate going because something is always wrong.
    Sorry.

  8. Do not know if this happened with this photo but.... I find it interesting, that even after a cloudy day, the sun will peek out, as it gets to nearly setting.... Like... Under the clouds, at last.

So sorry about the dental troubles. Do hope they will be less, while they are being completed.

  13. You just bought that fabric on Saturday and the pillowcases are done already? You're a fast worker. They look great.

  15. It's always hard when our body - makes a decision that causes us more grief than we wish - virtual hugs from down under where spring has begun it's journey to reveal those bulbs and buds that seemingly suddenly burst forth.

The pillow case designs look interesting and obviously from your 2 am finish it was meant to be & fun to create...

Maybe to help you over this rough time, you take a chair out into your garden and just blob out with the plants, let nature help you heal.

  16. The plant is gorgeous and sewing at 2 a.m. is not something I would be doing. You are a dedicated sewer. I have a dental appointment tomorrow...ugh!

  17. My posts are always mixed up. I seem to jump from one thing to another. You always have good posts. Can't imagine being awake enough at 2:00 am to sew. :) The pillowcaases turned out pretty. Love the fabric. That Hibiscus is beautiful. I was at the dentist yesterday getting two teeth filled but it was an easy trip. Hope yours wasn't too awful. I sure dread dental work.

  22. Lovely shot of the sun and clouds. I like the fabric too. The 2nd pillowcase reminds me of some patterned card stock that I just got yesterday and am working of a card design with it. Love the gorgeous hibiscus flowers and your butterfly.

  23. Gorgeous sunset picture --but I know what you mean about the sun being in your face... Sometimes, when we are driving, the sun will hit us right smack in the face... BLINDING for sure!!!!!

Love your hibiscus. It will come back next year. They are very hardy plants...

Love the pillowcases... Those daughters are SO lucky to have you, with all of your talents.

    Hugs,
    Betsy
