The color pink

I forget what this hibiscus was called.  I only had it one year.  I had it and two more, and the following winter, it had subzero days and none of them survive.

*********                                                                                                                        I did some of the normal household chores...vacuuming, and dishes.  And of course going outside with Copper.  He really likes to have company when he is outside.

I did not read any outside today, but would have been a perfect day for it.  However, yesterday I had two reading sessions.

I am heading upstairs here in a minute...I went up last night but did not sew.  I took a shirt apart.  I have quite the collection.  I want to make another quilt from them at some point.   I get them from Good Will, I only get 100% cotton, and get them when they are half price.  And mostly limited myself to Large size and above.  There is a lot of fabric in shirts.

I guess I best publish this and get on upstairs if I am going to go....

  2. I agree, there IS a lot of fabric in large shirts. I used to cut them up to make clothes for my children when they were youngsters, as a means of being thrifty (fabric and ready made clothing were both too expensive for us to buy).
Love the different hues of colour in the hibiscus. What a shame it decided it didn't like freezing temperatures.
    Have a great day :)

  3. At the outrageous price new fabric goes for finding 100% cotton shirts, especially nice big ones, is a very economical way to get you quilt material.

  5. what a super idea, using the shirts for fabric. I did not know you do this or if I did it has disappeared from my memory. that flower is special. love the variegated pinks. beau is never outside alone. none of our dogs were. our neighbors are to close, and in the past we got in the habit of going out with them because of the brats next door, Big was afraid to be in they yard alone, and Beau thinks something is wrong is we don't follow him around.

  7. That was a beautiful bloom. So disappointing the plant didn’t survive.

  8. That is a gorgeous bloom Rose, such a pretty combination of color. I am sorry you lost it due to the frost. I love the idea of recycling the material for quilts. Copper sounds very sweet wanting company.
