From a warm, sunny day...

This was taken yesterday...we have so many House Sparrows...I would not mind a few less.  I have been seeing house finches, too but they are never still long enough for me to run grab my camera.  Shoot, they are not even still long enough for me to raise my phone and snap a pic.

I have hung a load of clothes on the line...so you know for at least a short period of time all seemed right with the world.  I did a bit of yard work...and have been to Walmart.  That was the first time to Walmart in several days.  I seldom go past three days without having to stop for something.

I need to fix us a bite of supper...and have a load of Roger's t-shirts in the dryer.  Since he is allergic to so much stuff, I don't hang his stuff out very often, and if I do I take them to the dryer and run them through it a few minutes.

************
I have to give a quote from Sister Monica Joan from Call the Midwife....I was watching an old episode last night and here she comes with some boards.  Sister Julienne asks her what she has/where she got them.  I don't remember her exact wording...and Sister Monica tells her that they are boards and she got them from a pet shop that was rearranging their displays.  She proceeds to tell Sister Julienne...that she requires bookshelves to be set up in her room.  She says, " My books have been in boxes far too long.  If they are not set straight, their contents will jumble and become deranged!"

Sometimes I think that describes my mind...this quote is kind of funny.   There is this one which I have shared before I think:   Sister Monica Joan said:  "I find two opinions are always better than one, particularly if one is mine."  I urge you to click on the link above about her...it will describe her better than I ever could.

But I leave you with closing lines that make you think, "We flicker on the screen...we fold and unfold upon the mind's eye.  For its all as wings as eternal as a heartbeat and even when the heart falls silent we do not cease to be...because in the end we all become memories..."

  1. I put out a hummingbird and oriole feeder this morning. I am hoping the birds find the feeders soon. Bob placed the feeders so that I can see them from the kitchen window. I]

  3. I love Sister Monica Joan!! These Sunday evenings we get to watch new episodes from 8 to 9 o"clock and nothing short of an earthquake prevents that. I think the quote I like best is the one about her opinion being best.

I also have WAY too many House Sparrows. Right about now there's a male that keeps harassing the Chickadees in one of my birdhouses. The hole is too small for the Sparrow but he wants to keep the other bids away.

  4. I had a couple loads out on the line today too.
Couldn't find the colored stainless steal clothes pins but I found some others and ordered them. Can't wait to get them!

  8. I love sparrows flying around the place and made a sparrow hotel but a blue tit move in to it. The sparrows still feed in our garden though

  9. Amen! On the quotes & your thoughts.

(We have sparrows & tons of doves in our yard at the feeders). I agree about 'less'

  10. i have never watched the Midwives but I can see why you like the quotes.. the quote I just can't get in my mind is yours. I have hung a load of clothes on the line and all seemed right with my world. I had to smile when I read it,
you are one of only a couple of people that I know love to hang out the wash. glad you could have a few moments of peace and joy.... I never thought about allergies being effected by hanging clothes on the line. makes sense

  11. Those are great quotes, thanks Rose. I've gotten a couple of good ones from shows I have watched. We had several Chipping Sparrows for a while but I haven't seen them in a few days. Maybe they have flown north. Cute photo of your House Sparrow.

  12. I like to have birds in my garden but I don't like their droppings on my laundry that are hanging on the lines to dry. Sister Monica Joan sounds very entertaining. Keep well.

  13. You call them House Sparrows. They are actually English Sparrows and not native to the USA. They will raid a Blue Bird house and break eggs and kill babies. We eliminate them in our yard. There are very few critters in Nature I hate. English Sparrows, Starlings (also killer of Blue Birds) and Snakes.

But on a happy note, we support a variety of wildlife here and try our best to keep them safe.

Keeping your mind in order...such a difficult task.
    xx, Carol

  14. It sounds like you accomplished a lot today. I always like days like that. You definitely got more done than I did. That little sparrow is adorable!
