Copper, and more...

Copper had his operation(he was neutered) last week...he has to be kept quiet for a couple weeks.  It is kind of hard.  He is excited about the snow.  Add to that, someone across from daughter's back yard built a snowman and that ticked him off.  Which would be funny, but he constantly wants out to go bark at it.

Daughter had his DNA done...look what went into his breeding.

Look!  He is catching up to Delta in height.  I am not sure he will ever put on much weight.

I wish you could seen them....daughter will say something like, 'Delta, Copper, can I ask you a question?'  They run to her and look up at her espectently.  She will ask. 'Do you want a treat?' and they run to the cabinet their treats are kept in.  I don't know if she asks them other things or not.  But it sure is fun to watch.

I have been managed to stitch some every day of January.  The goal was at least 15 minutes a day of either sewing, or messing in the sewing room.  Only a couple days were just 15 minutes...most were well over an hour, and most of it hand stitching.  I would get more done, but have a hard time seeing at night...by lamp light.  And I have an ott light real close to me.

Anyway, above are the few flowers I have made since the last time I posted flowers.

When I cut the hexies for the flowers, I do not cut one at a time.  I usually fold the fabric in such a way as to cut 4 to 6...using rotary cutter and rulers.  That leaves little bits of fabric.  Below I have sewn some of them together with no thought as to color.

Of course, I added to them once I had a hexie pieced.

Notice that they are laying on a ruler...that will give you an idea of the size.

I am not sure what I will do with these, but it is fun to piece them together.  But so time consuming.

I also  pieced some random bits together.  More will be added to all of the above.

I know this isn't much of a post but it will have to do for now...I hope everyone has a good week ahead.

  1. Your quilt pieces are such happy colors. It sure is nice to see some bright as all I am working on now is a very dull color sock.

Copper such is a handsome fellow. Hope he gets out of the cone soon.

  2. Even when you give no thought to the color, I think you still subconciously make lovely matches. The snowman story is just TOO funny!!

  6. i am wondering what would happen if he were introduced to the snow man.. he is so handsome and i am thinking with that much dane he is going to be BIG...he has a bout 6 more months to grow i think. i love seeing both of them. Beau does the same thing, he knows the words and what to look for, one ball is popped out of his 3, when bob says get your ball if he picks up the wrong one, bob says no, not that one, go get a good ball. and he does..you said you enjoy pieceing those little pieces even when you have no plan. that would drive me crazy, the piece together and the not having a plan... we each enjoy the things we love. i love playing and finding new stuff my phone will do like you like piecing and sewing...

  7. It looks like you're having fun stitching the pieces together and if you enjoy doing it that's a good enough reason.

  11. I just love Copper and Delta, they are both such sweeties. I can't believe they even do doggy DNA now, that's great. I love every single one of the pieces you have made, they are all so colorful and so pretty!

  12. I hope Copper heals quickly. It is hard to keep a young dog down when they want to play all the time. Both Copper and Delta sure do sound like smart dogs.

I love all the piecing you are doing. A few months ago I started working on a memory pyramid quilt and some of your piecing reminded me of that. I haven't even looked at it since before Christmas so I guess I should get it out. Your piecing is always so neat and perfect - just beautiful work!

  13. I have a love/hate relationship with scraps - and right now they are mainly paper related. I keep some on the worktable but others just go straight to council recycling system. Then at some point I will clear the table and then wonder if it's worthwhile doing anything with the scraps.

The reason I say that last sentence is that they have to be glued onto something, and I end up with gluey fingers +++. Yep, I can wash them but when a tradesman comes to the door, I feel silly because I'm all gluey...

  16. How fascinating to read Copper's ancestry. I know they do this sort of thing with people, but had never heard of them doing it for animals before. It is rather good :)

  18. Our neighbors built a snowman in their backyard a couple years ago. That year we had deer passing through our yard almost daily. We happened to catch the deer reaction to the snowman. They expressed surprise upon seeing the snowman, stopped dead in their tracks. They stayed that way for a minute. Cautiously, they moved forward keeping an eye on the snowman. I hope Copper heals quickly.

  20. Sewing little bits of color is one of my favorite things to do. It's thrilling to see something come from what most would call "trash".

  21. I love those big dogs! Both of them are beautiful and they look intelligent. Dogs that get good care and get talked to really are smart. Eli knows just about everything we say. You can see it in his eyes. Your flowers are so pretty. I need to try spending at least 15 minutes a day in the sewing room. Once I get in the sewing room and get started on something, I don't want to quit.

  23. Love your doggie stories and pictures too. thanks.
Busy with the cutting and sewing I see. Good for you. I am busy with nothing---boring!! I did make some Valentine's for the swap I am in but that goes pretty fast as I am now down to just cutting and pasting---kinda kindergartenish. LOL
